The layout of the entire cemetery adopts the layout of the word "zi". "Zi" is taken from Mr. Wang's representative work "Midnight", with simple strokes and clear latitude and longitude. Use it to find meaning in beauty.
On the road leading to the cemetery, there are 85 steps built to symbolize the life course of Mr. 85 years old. These 85 steps are set up in three different shapes to show the three steps in Mr.’s life. The different stages illustrate Mr. Mao Dun's ordinary and glorious life.
In front of Mr. Mao Dun’s mausoleum is a bronze bust of Mr. Mao Dun. Its prototype is the image of Mao Dun when he was the Minister of Culture. In front of the bronze statue is a tombstone carved from black granite, shaped like an open manuscript. The pages are engraved with the handwriting of the first chapter of Mao Dun's representative work "Midnight", "Sunset"; in the tomb behind the bronze statue are Mao Dun and The ashes of his wife Kong Dejun.
On the east side of the mausoleum, the tomb of Mao Dun's mother, Chen Aizhu, is also moved. Chen Aizhu's tomb was originally located in the countryside of Dongzha, Wuzhen. It was moved here at the request of Mao Dun's family and to fulfill Mr. Mao Dun's last wish.
