Want to know the life experience of the founder of Bodhi? Don't worry, let me speak slowly.
1. The Journey to the West is closely related to the Romance of Gods.
I think you will be familiar with The Journey to the West and The Romance of Gods in the Ming Dynasty. The myths derived from the two works, such as "the Monkey King makes a scene in Heaven" and "What makes a scene in the sea", are well known to everyone. Although these two novels tell stories of different dynasties, the characters in them are inextricably linked. You, such as Li Jing, Nezha, Bai Mu, Yang Jian and others, are reflected in both books. Manjusri Guangfa Tianzun, Pu Xian Zhenren, Chihangxia and Diandengxia in the Romance of the Gods have been rehabilitated and entered Buddhism after several years. Later, it became Manjusri Bodhisattva, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva, Guanyin Bodhisattva and ancient Buddha.
These characters also appear in The Journey to the West. In addition, there is a legend circulating in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River in China: "Nezha found the Gankun Bow and the Thunder Arrow on the tower, so he accidentally killed the Biyun boy, a disciple of the Shijie Queen. Empress Shijie talked to Nezha, but Nezha couldn't beat Shijie and fled to Taiyi. Taiyi real people burned the Queen Shijie with the Kowloon Shenhuo hood. It turned out to be a stone (this stone was described in the original work of Shen Feng: this stone was born outside the mysterious world of Huang Zhi, and was refined into an elf by fire, water and wind), and Nezha threw it to the Guo Hua Mountain. A few years later, the stone burst, and a stone monkey was the Monkey King. He made a scene in the Heavenly Palace and beat Nezha until he vomited blood, just to avenge his past life. " It can be seen that there is a great relationship between the two works, and it is possible for one work to follow the other.
2. Brief introduction of The Journey to the West and the powerful figures in The Romance of Gods.
1. Journey to the West 2.
A. Tathagata
Tathagata is a respected Sakyamuni in the western paradise, and there is no Amitabha in the south. On the top of the vulture mountain in Tianzhu Lingshan, Hezhou, cows and quilts are cultivated. This man is magical and powerful. As soon as he appeared, he solved the catastrophe in the sky. Later, he used his skills many times to help Wukong break through many difficulties. It can be called the Big Mac in Journey to the West.
It should be noted here that in Journey to the West, Sakyamuni and Amitabha are the same person. )
B. Bodhi founder
Bodhi is an overseas immortal. He lived in seclusion in the deep mountains, without revealing himself. Although the magic is boundless, it is unknown. It took only three years for this great fairy to let the Monkey King learn the skills of immortality, seventy-two changes and mastering somersault clouds. This laid a good foundation for Wukong to make a scene in the Heavenly Palace and finally become a Buddha fighter. It can be seen that Bodhi is by no means an idle generation.
2. Five leaders of the Romance of Gods.
A. Laozi
Laozi is a big disciple of Hong Jun's bodhi old zu, and he is in charge of teaching people (some people say he is a coach). He went down the mountain three times to help explain the power of teaching and stop teaching immortals. Also once a gasification three clean-ups, defeated Tian Tong hierarch. In The Journey to the West, he lived in the heaven he hated. He was a mixed ancestor of the Taiqing Holy Land, and one of the leaders of Sanqing Sect-Taishang Daozu, commonly known as Taishang Laojun.
B. yuanshi county Tianzun
Yuan Shi Tian Zun is the second disciple of Hong Jun, who is in charge of teaching. He has many disciples, many of whom are famous. Manjusri, Pu Xian and Guanyin in Buddhism, and Sun Buddha in seven buddha in the Past are all his disciples. Even the famous ancient Buddha who lit lanterns was once a master of teaching. Besides, Erlang God Emperor Wen of Sui, Third Prince Nezha and Tota King Li Jing were also disciples of the Yuan Dynasty. Later, Tianzun became the head of Sanqing Sect-the congenital ancestor of Yuqing Holy Land in Journey to the West.
C. Patriarch Tian Tong
Leader Tian Tong is the third disciple of Hong Jun's bodhi old zu, who is responsible for interception. He has the most disciples, but most of them are birds and beasts. But he also made a lot of contributions to heaven. Like the Jade Emperor's Twenty-eight Stars, Lei Gong, Dian Mu and Putian Astrology, almost all of them were his disciples. The leader listened to the slanderers of his disciples and set up an array of "Zhu" and "Wan", which blocked Jiang Ziya's way. Later, due to the joint efforts of four religious leaders, they broke the second array. He is another leader of Sanqing School-Lingbao Tianzun, the ancestor of Tian Tong, the holy land of Shangqing.
D. take the lead
Taoist is the leader of western religions and lives in the western paradise. This man is six feet tall and has a yellow face. I haven't left a quiet place for many years. Later, at the invitation of others, the three relics won the immortal gate and broke the evil array with Laozi and Yuanshi.
E. quasi-Taoism
Zhunti Taoist is the second leader of western religions. I have been to Dongtu many times. He is much more open-minded than the tour guide and has helped explain and solve the crisis many times. This man can be said to be smart and capable. The blessing pestle and the wonderful seven-treasure tree in your hand are really amazing. The result of the confrontation between the leader of Tian Tong and him was one draw and two losses.
3. Looking for clues in Journey to the West
In Journey to the West, the Monkey King's master Bodhi is a fairy on earth. Because the Monkey King only studied Taoism in Sanxingdong for seven years and martial arts for three years, he tore down Lingxiao Hall, so many people were interested in his master. So who is this person? There is no clue left in Journey to the West? The answer is no.
Let's take a look at the residence of Bodhi's father first. Bodhi's father lived in seclusion in Hezhou Niu, "Lingtai Square-inch Mountain, Xieyue Samsung Cave". The word "square inch mountain" in Lingtai is "Lingshan", "oblique moon" and "Samsung" are all things in the sky, which obviously implies "heaven". Put them together, it is the "Lingshan in the sky" (another explanation says that "the square-inch mountain on the platform and the three-star cave on the slanting moon" is actually a word "heart", which makes sense, but it is not the only explanation after all). And we know that the Tathagata (again, the Tathagata in Journey to the West is both Sakyamuni Buddha and Amitabha Buddha. In other words, most people represented by Mr. Wu at that time thought that Buddha Sakyamuni was Amitabha, and Amitabha was Buddha Sakyamuni. The author calls him Tathagata. ) I live in Hezhou Niu, a Yin Temple in the "Tianzhu Lingshan". Are there any secrets and clues between these two famous mountains? Is there any connection between Bodhi and Tathagata?
When the Monkey King first met Bodhi, Wu Cheng'en described this earthly immortal like this: "I saw Bodhi sitting on the stage with thirty immortals standing on both sides of the stage. Sure enough: I feel that Jin Xian is not dirty, and the West is the wonderful ancestor of Bodhi; I can't live three or three lines, full of enthusiasm and good intentions. " I saw the journey to the west for the first time.
It can be seen that the founder of Bodhi is also a respected person in the West. "Bodhi Tree" is a symbol of Western Buddhism. Is Bodhi the founder of Buddhism and Taoism? If he is a "Buddha", why does he know so much about Taoist culture? If he is "Tao", then why does the author use "Bodhi, the ancestor of the West" to describe this mysterious old fairy?
4. Find the answer in The Romance of the Gods.
In the book Journey to the West, we can't decipher the true identity of Bodhi's founder. But we know that the characters in The Journey to the West are closely related to those in The Romance of Gods. I said it before. The bodhi ancestor in Journey to the West gives people the feeling that Buddhism and Taoism are one. In the Romance of Gods, there is a kind of Taoism that looks like a Buddha rather than a Buddha-Western religion. There are two leaders in western religions, who have great magical powers. He helped the Taishang Laojun and the Yuanshi Tianzun to decipher the "Zhu Xian Array" and "Wan Xian Array" laid by Tian Tong. It can be called the two top masters of the Romance of the Gods. These two leaders are called Jieyin Taoist priest and Zhunti Taoist priest. Have they ever appeared in Journey to the West? If so, in what capacity did they appear in The Journey to the West?
1. Receiving Taoist VS Tathagata Buddha
Taoist priests live in the western paradise, six feet tall and yellow-faced. It reminds people of the Tathagata Buddha who was cultivated into a golden body in The Journey to the West. They look so alike that they are in charge of the western paradise. Could they be the same person? With such doubts, I read two famous books carefully and saw that their descriptions by the two authors were so similar. The author wrote:
A the following passage is taken from the seventy-eighth chapter of the Romance of Gods, and the author's description of Taoist priests:
Listen to the Taoist priest and come to the East with him. I saw my foot on Xiangyun, and suddenly I came to Lu Peng. Guang Chengzi came to Lao Zi and Yuan Shi and said, "These two western teachers are very respectful." Lao Zi and Yuan Shi led the crowd to meet the enemy under the tent. I saw a man standing six feet tall. But look:
Daxian barefoot jujube pear fragrance, stepping on Xiangyun is more abnormal;
Twelve lotus stands play a magic weapon, and the edge of Bade pool is white.
Life is positive with heaven and earth, and happiness is crazy with Hongbo.
This is the name of a relic cultivated in the west.
Lao Tzu and Yuan Shi took the invitation, put it on their bodies, kowtowed and sat down.
B. Look at The Journey to the West's seventh chapter, the author's description of Tathagata:
I saw the barefoot fairy coming again. After bowing to the jade emperor, he thanked the Buddha and said, "I am deeply impressed by the demon nature and surrender to the demon monkey." There is nothing to respect, especially two pears and a few dates. " The poem says:
Daxian's barefoot dates and pears are fragrant, and his dedication to Tommy is long-lasting.
The seven treasures of Lianhua Mountain are as stable as others, and the golden flowers are as beautiful as brocade.
Life with heaven and earth is not absurd, and Fu is crazier than Hongbo.
Happy life as scheduled, leisurely and comfortable in the west.
Tathagata is also called Xie. Tell Arnold and Ye Jia to put away all the offerings and give the Jade Emperor a thank-you banquet.
C in the romance of the gods, there is another passage:
On the top of the Taoist priest, three Buddhist relics appeared and shot swords. That sword is absolutely reliable. How can you come down? The western hierarch entered the immortal gate until he stopped at it.
After reading the above three points, I think everyone should have some basic ideas, right What do these three points mean? Judging from the relics on the tour guide's head. We know that this man is not an ordinary Taoist. He will become a Buddhist in the future. So who are the Buddhists who accept Taoism? According to the survey, there is a big Buddha in Buddhism called Jieyin Buddha, that is, Vertical Amitabha Buddha. Presumably, after years of practice, this Taoist has become a well-known Amitabha Buddha. I have said more than once before that there is Amitabha (Buddha of Sakyamuni) in Journey to the West, also called Tathagata. The original text reads like this: "The Tathagata smiled and said,' I am Sakyamuni, the Buddha of the West, and there is no Amitabha in the south.' See Journey to the West for the seventh time. ".So the answer was revealed. The Taoist priest in The Romance of Gods was the Tathagata in The Journey to the West. After countless seasons, Western religions have evolved into a new religion-Western Buddhism. Taoist himself became a master of Buddhism-Tathagata.
2. quasi-Taoist VS bodhi founder
Let's take a look at the two authors' comments on the other two:
A. For the first appearance of Taoist Zhunti, see Chapter 61 of Romance of the Gods:
After hearing this, Manjusri Guangfa Tianzun shouted, "Brother Dao, keep people with swords!" Guangfa Tianzun recalled that he couldn't recognize who this person was; The Taoist priest wore a double bun robe and said, "Thank you!" Guangfa Tianzun replied, "Where do Taoist friends come from? What do you want to see? " The Taoist said, "Brother Dao doesn't know me, so I'll tell you everything, and then I'll know:
When I feel that Jin Xian is at its best, the western magic method is Bodhi;
If you don't die or live three or three lines, you will be full of goodwill.
Emptiness changes with it, just like nature;
The same fate as heaven, solemnity, exorcist, and bright heart have been robbed.
The Taoist priest said: "Poverty is the only way for Taoist priests under Western teaching."
B. Bodhi appeared for the first time and saw Journey to the West for the first time:
I saw Bodhi's father sitting on the stage with thirty fairies standing on both sides. That's:
I feel that Jin Xian is not polluted, and the West is the wonderful ancestor of Bodhi;
If you don't die or live three or three lines, you will be full of goodwill.
Emptiness changes with it, just like nature;
The same fate as heaven, solemnity, exorcist, and bright heart have been robbed.
What do you think after reading the above two poems? Do you think Wu Cheng'en and Xu are playing the same role again? What are the coincidences between Bodhi and Zhunti? Let's take a look at who the Taoist priest is in the Romance of Gods. As mentioned above, Zhunti, a Taoist priest, is the second master of western religions and a very enlightened person. He also visited the East many times and learned a lot about Oriental Taoism. Since he is the second teacher of western religions (later Buddhism), he must know Buddhist culture like the back of his hand. Like Buddhism and Taoism, the Bodhi founder in the Journey to the West is a master of the unity of Buddhism and Taoism. Bodhi is the root of Buddhism, and western Taoism is the source of Buddhism. It can be seen that the founder of Bodhi has a deep relationship with Western Taoism (the predecessor of Buddhism). Well, I'm afraid only two leaders of western religions dare to claim to be the founders of Bodhi. At that time, there were only two leaders in western religions. One is the guide, which is the later Tathagata; The other is the quasi-Taoism we mentioned earlier. Taoist priests are not interested in Oriental Taoism. This matter can be seen from the wide borrowing of the western flag. At that time, when he was informed of the purpose of Hiroshi, he said: "Poverty is pure and inaction in the West, which is different from nobility. See me with flowers, I see him, he is like a lotus, and he does not visit the southeast twice; This flag is afraid of provoking the world of mortals and dare not do it. " It can be seen that the Taoist priest does not know about Oriental Taoism. In his view, Oriental Taoism and Western Taoism are completely different and incompatible. Obviously, the guide must not be the founder of Bodhi. In other words, Bodhi is not a Tathagata. Presumably, he will not be a disciple of Tathagata and Xu Bodhi. On the other hand, Zhunti Taoist is a great benefactor of Oriental Taoism. It was he who persuaded the Taoist priest to lend the purple treasure flag to Guang, and it was he who persuaded the Taoist priest to help Lao Zi at the beginning of the Yuan Dynasty and destroyed the immortal array. It can be seen that Zhunti Taoism is also closely related to Oriental Taoism. From this point of view, both the Taoist Zhunti and the Bodhi founder have the characteristics of both Buddhism and Taoism and boundless magic. In addition, the two authors' descriptions of the two masters are so close that it can be inferred that Zhunti is Bodhi and Bodhi is Zhunti.
Verb (short for verb) The answer is revealed.
According to this, it can be judged that Bodhi was a Taoist and Tathagata was a Taoist. Bodhi and Tathagata once shared western religions. Later, I don't know how many years have passed, and earth-shaking changes have taken place in western religions. Taoist changed the name of western religion to Buddhism, and became a Tathagata himself, and changed the "office location" to India Temple of Tianzhu Lingshan in Niuhezhou. Taoist Zhunti also found a treasure trove of geomantic omen in Niuhezhou. He named the mountain "Lingtai Square Inch Mountain", echoing the "Tianzhu Lingshan" in Tongzhou. Since then, Taoist Zhundi has been allowed to live here under the pseudonym of Bodhi, and no one knows his residence except the residents on the mountain. As for the quasi-Taoist, why did he leave the guidance Taoist? Is it related to the change of western religions? How did Zhunti Taoist disciple Peacock Daming go to Lingshan to swallow Tathagata? How to be recognized as Buddha mother, peacock, king Daming and bodhisattva by Tathagata? All this is left to a new generation of literati to study slowly. )
All the above are my words. There are many stories about the mystery of Bodhi's ancestor's life experience. Some people say that he is the Buddha of the Tathagata, some people say that he is the Buddha who lit lamps in ancient times, some people say that he is the great disciple of the Tathagata, and some people say that he is the mind of Wukong. Of course, maybe he is him and does not belong to any kind of speculation. Therefore, this article is only for everyone to relax after dinner. Don't get too attached to details. My opinion has been published, thank you for watching. Goodbye!
