World Heritage Site Tianlong Temple in Lanshan, Kyoto

Tianlong Temple, located in Lanshan, Kyoto, is the main peak of Lin Ji Tianlong Temple, which was registered as a world cultural heritage on 1994. Caoyuan Pool, designed and built by the dream window in the temple, is a special national monument.

Tianlong Temple, the first generation general of Ashikaga shogunate, was built in 1339, at the invitation of Mengchuang Shushi Temple, to worship Go Daigo. In order to build Tianlong Temple, Ashikaga shogunate sent a trading ship named Tianlong Temple to the Song Dynasty in China at that time, and reopened trade with China.

Mengchuang layman was a famous Zen monk from Kamakura to the Southern and Northern Dynasties. He was awarded the title of Buddhist by the seventh emperor, and both Go Daigo and Zumu Zunshi converted to his disciples. Dream Window Zen Master, whose ancestors were Shu Shi, was highly respected by the royal family and the shogunate. He not only has strong economic strength, but also represents advanced culture. They not only have very high achievements in the fields of ink painting, calligraphy and other arts, but also have high attainments in gardening.

Dream Window is not only a Taoist monk, but also a famous gardener, especially in the aspect of gardening in the dry mountains and rivers that express Zen thought. His design is bold and creative, leaving many excellent works of perfect integration of garden and nature. He personally designed and presided over the construction of Saihuo Temple in Kyoto and Ruiquan Temple in Kamakura. Tianlong Temple is his masterpiece in his later years, which has a far-reaching influence on later gardening.

In the Japanese Zen temple Benshan, Galand is usually regarded as a part of the garden, based on the Zen temple in Song Dynasty in China. Imperial Gate, Buddhist Temple, Buddhist Temple and Buddhist Temple are symmetrically distributed in a straight line, which is often called "Zen Galand".

In Tianlong Temple, the majestic Galand and Caoyuan Pool, as a swimming pool, are integrated, and the silence of the temple instantly makes people return to the calm mountains and rivers.

The vast Caoyuan Pool behind the abbot was named after a stone tablet engraved with "a drop of Caoyuan" appeared in the pool when the Zen master was gardening. Tianlong Temple experienced eight wars, and only this Caoyuan Pool has been preserved to this day. Caoyuanchi is a Chichun Garden with Lanshan, Guishan and Xiaocang Mountain as its scenery, which combines the traditional Yamato painting culture with the Zen culture in the Song and Yuan Dynasties.

Looking from the abbot to Caoyuan Pool, in the distance is Longmen Waterfall, which is composed of a group of rough and simple stones. The stones falling from the mountain are combined like waterfalls, and huge stones are laid in the middle of the pool, together with carp stones, showing the artistic conception of carp yue longmen. This technique has a great influence on the gardening of Jingu Temple, and it is also a model of dry landscape gardening. Although it is now a dry waterfall, it can be speculated that the groundwater gushing from the back of the stone combination is divided into three sections and poured down into the grass source pool under the small stone bridge in front.

In addition to Caoyuanchi, there will be many surprises when you visit the different Galand in Tianlong Temple.

Built in 1899, at the entrance of Curry, stands the dharma body of former pipe leader Hirata. The Great Abbot is the largest building in Tianlong Temple, and it is dedicated to nigume. If you want to enjoy Longmen Waterfall, the abbot is definitely the best choice.

Photographing is not allowed in the Dharma Hall. This is a decorative painting in the dining room.

At present, the picture of Yunlong on the top of the stupa was painted by Japanese painter Kayama Matazo in 1997. The huge Yunlong is painted on 159 board, forming a great circle with a diameter of nine meters. The dragon with five claws in the middle has bright eyes. No matter which direction you look at it, you can feel its inviolable power. If your visit coincides with the weekend, you may wish to feel the mysterious temperament of the dragon.

In the beautiful Tianlong Temple, many people passed the corridor connecting the Academy and Duobao Hall, and even thought it was not worth mentioning, but I still couldn't help but introduce it in a colorful way.

A long wooden cloister with a narrow wooden grate in the middle. The teahouse hidden by green trees outside the corridor is faintly visible; The gurgling water tinkling under the cloister. See cherry blossoms in full bloom in spring; Summer night accompanied by insects to make tea and enjoy the moon; In autumn, red makeup is reflected in the grassland pool, while in winter, white snow overwhelms pines. When it rains, listen to the sound of raindrops on the eaves and jump into the stream happily; Leaning against the fence at sunset, overlooking the water and mountains in Caoyuanchi.

I really have a soft spot for the promenade. Its beauty and infinite reverie can't be expressed in precise words. Be sure to come and see when you come.

The towering inkstone of Tianlong Temple is also not to be missed. According to legend, when 1899 rebuilt the Dharma Hall, Suzuki Matsushita used more than 60 monks to grind ink when he was protecting the dragon. This inkstone was erected to commemorate the Song Year of Song Yue and the pipe chief of that year. It is said that you can learn calligraphy well by visiting this monument.

The "heart-washing" sink under the monument makes people dare not have any vulgar ideas in an instant. In this Zen temple, I can't help thinking of the pool in the shrine. No matter in Zen temples or shrines, we must eliminate the distractions of laymen.

When I went to Tianlong Temple in winter, the flowers and plants in Nuoda Baihua Garden built on the mountain had already disappeared. Many of them are just dusty twigs, and only their business cards make us wonder how they compete for beauty in spring and summer.

Green shrubs, mosses and streams can be seen everywhere, adding infinite vitality to the hundred gardens in winter. Climbing to the top of Wangjing, I can only look at the many halls in the dead branches and sigh. In a blink of an eye, spring is coming and the cherry blossom season is coming. In the cherry blossom season, it is more important to see Duobaotang through hanging cherry blossoms.

Not far from Tianlong Temple, there are famous Yueyue Bridge and Lanshan Commercial Street. If you meet a rickshaw, you might as well spend three or four thousand yen on a rickshaw, feel the beauty of Lanshan and listen to the driver tell the story of Lanshan in detail. If you bring your children, rent a bicycle with a back seat, bring your children and experience the feeling of a housewife in Kyoto, it is also very good. There are many hand-drawn maps at JR Lanshan Station. We can follow the map and find the sacred place in our hearts. It's also good to take it as a souvenir.
