Since the winter solstice, China has entered nine cold days. Astronomy experts said that "Jiujiu" is a miscellaneous solar term that is more applicable to northern my country, especially the middle and lower reaches of the Yellow River. It starts counting from the day of the winter solstice and enters the "Nine Count", commonly known as "Jiaojiu". From then on, every nine days is a unit, called "Nine". After nine "Nine", it is exactly eighty-one days, that is "Out of nine", spring will be warm and the flowers will be blooming. The widely circulated winter solstice "Nine-Nine Songs to Eliminate the Cold", commonly known as "Nine-Nine Songs", vividly records the climate and phenological changes between the winter solstice and the next spring equinox, and also expresses some laws of agricultural activities. The widely circulated "Nine-Nine Cold-Repelling Song" says: "One-nine-twenty-nine don't take action, three-nine-nine and four-nine walk on the ice, five-nine-nine and six-nine look at the willows, the seven-nine river opens, the eight-nine wild geese come, the nine-nine plus one-nine, Plowing cattle are everywhere."

Due to the different climates in different places, the Jiujiu songs in different places are somewhat different. For example, the Jiujiu song popular in the northern part of Hebei Province is: "No action in 1929; Three-nine-nine and four-nine, the fate is gone; five-nine and a half, the dirt is scattered; sixty-nine are hunted in the spring, and they take off their coats and exchange for cows; seventy-nine and sixty-three, pedestrians wear their clothes wide; eighty-nine, the land is not plowed, but only waits for three to five days; The nine poplars are blooming, but the nine will not come again."

Representative Zhao Zhiheng, director of the Tianjin Astronomical Society, said that although the weather has been abnormal in recent years, as long as the solar term comes, the glaciers will still bloom, the willows will still be green, and the wild geese will remain. Still returning, the "Nine-Nine Cold-Repelling Song" is still sung, and it doesn't feel outdated.

Astronomical experts further said that what complements the "Nine-Nine Song" is the widely circulated "Nine-Nine Picture to Eliminate Cold", also known as the "Nine-Nine Picture". There are many forms of "Nine-Nine Pictures", including nine-frame cold-relieving pictures, fish-shaped cold-relieving pictures, spring pattern cold-relieving pictures, children's cold-relieving pictures, etc. They are both calendars for calculating time and exquisite decorations. Therefore, during the Winter Solstice Festival, people still have the custom of painting "Nine-Nine Pictures to Eliminate the Cold".
