It was a weekend, and Wan Li was clear and sunny. I set the goal of the outing at Lin Yutang Memorial Hall. When I came to Wulisha Village, Tianbao Town, where the memorial hall is located, I saw the endless "Banana Sea". In the depths of the "Banana Sea", there is an exquisite semi-circular two-story building, which is the Lin Yutang Memorial Hall. In front of the museum stands a sitting statue of Lin Yutang, dressed in a gown and holding a pipe, with an elegant expression.
Walking into the exhibition hall, I first saw Lin Yutang's life introduction, and between the lines showed Lin Yutang's mental journey from his hometown town to the world. Lin Yutang, 1895, from Zhangzhou. He studied in the United States and Germany and taught in Peking University, Beijing Women's Normal University, Xiamen University and The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He founded the Analects of Confucius, The World and other magazines. He also served as Director of Fine Arts and Literature of UNESCO and President of Nanyang University in Singapore. Elected as the vice chairman of International PEN. He advocates humorous literature, makes incisive short comments and speeches, and often wins full house applause. He has created many classic works, such as Clouds in Beijing, Art of Living, My Country, My Country, and translated many foreign works. There are hundreds of various versions of Lin Yutang's works on display in the exhibition hall. Lin Yutang is good at writing in English, and at the same time he tries his best to publicize the traditional culture of the Chinese nation to the world. As one of his friends said, "Lin Yutang's greatest strength is to tell foreigners about China culture and China people about foreign culture." A westerner commented on him like this: "The wisdom of both the East and the West is concentrated on him ..." Looking through Lin Yutang's works and reading Lin Yutang's quotations, I seem to understand. However, I have been able to feel the influence of this master of culture who "comments on the universe with his feet on things" on China culture and world culture, and I also know why he has so many titles.
After visiting Lin Yutang Memorial Hall. Standing in front of the memorial hall, looking around, there are banana forests, green waves are undulating, and bursts of banana fragrance are floating in the wind. This beautiful scenery is like a landscape painting with proper tone. "One side of water and soil nurtures one side of people" is the treasure house of this outstanding figure, and it is the mountains and rivers of this hometown that have nurtured this generation of cultural masters. I feel proud and proud to have such a master of culture in my hometown!
