Ancestral temples built in the early and middle Qing Dynasty include Xi Gu Grand Ancestral Temple in Jieyang, Mingluan Public Temple in Qiankeng in Jiexi, Guandi Temple in the north gate of Jiexi, Yongchang Ancient Temple in Mianhu in Jiexi, Juzu Public Temple in Yang Xia, etc. Comprehensive use of heavy carving, relief, round carving, general carving and other forms and techniques to express multi-level complex content.
Among them, the caissons of Guandi Temple in Jieyang North Gate and Yongchang Ancient Temple in Mianhu are well-preserved, beautifully carved and have many figures, which are the concentrated embodiment of Chaozhou woodcarving.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, Congxi Gong Temple and Chaozhou Jile Huang Gong Temple, built by Chen Xunian, a wealthy overseas Chinese in Caitang Jinsha Township, Chao 'an, are the representatives of the essence of wood carving and stone carving in Chaoshan.
During Guangxu period, a rare and exquisite half crab basket decorated by Seiryuji in Chaozhou came out. It is the work of Huang Kaixian, a native of Jieyang, who is known as the champion of wood carving, and created a precedent for the creation of Chaoshan wood carving crab baskets in later generations.
