Laoguangwu, located 40 kilometers south of the county seat, at the foot of Gouzhu Mountain outside Yanmenguan, with the Han Formation outside the city, is one of the most complete existing ancient cities in Shanxi Province. Old Guangwu, with the Great Wall in the south and the watchtower opposite, was an important stronghold of the war between the Han nationality and the northern minorities in China history. According to the records of Liao history, the old Guangwu was built in Liao and Jin Dynasties and was a defensive stronghold in front of Yanmenguan. Today, the complete city wall was built in the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The circumference of the ancient city wall1.652m. The wall is 8 meters high, 5 meters wide at the bottom and 3 meters wide at the top. The exterior is all brick, based on stone strips. Chimney openings, observation holes and perforations are arranged at the top along the low wall. The whole city wall has 16 horse faces, which are close to the city wall and dignified. There are gates in the east, south and west of the city wall, but no north gate. There was a gatehouse on the original city gate, which has now been destroyed. The layout of street buildings in the city basically retains the original system, with four streets and eight lanes. There is an ancient elm tree on the wall of Laoguang Fog City, and there are two ancient cypress trees in the southwest of the city, both of which are vigorous and have experienced hundreds of years of wind and rain. The strangest thing is that there is also a wolfberry in the branch of a cedar, which embraces and blends together.
Wu Xinguang was built between Hongwu and Wanli in Ming Dynasty, 3 kilometers north of Yanmenguan, which is an important facility in the defense system of the Inner Great Wall. Wu Xinguang directly guards the throat of Gouzhu Mountain, which is the north gate and strategic location of the Central Plains. It has always been a battleground for military strategists and a place of hand-to-hand combat. The original Xinguang Wucheng also had a wall, with a height of 10 m and a bottom width of 5 m, which was based on stone strips and made of bricks. This is an indestructible city. Dongguan, Nanguan, Dabeiguan and Xiaobeiguan are closed in the ancient city, and there is a stone tablet "Sanjin Xiongguan" above Dabeiguan. There are three lines of defense in the city: the urn, the middle city and the south urn. The middle city is like a dustpan and the south urn is like a bucket, so it is called "golden bucket and silver dustpan", which means that the city defense is strong.
On May 25th, 2006, Guangwu City, as an ancient building in Ming Dynasty, was approved by the State Council to be included in the sixth batch of national key cultural relics protection units.
