This poem was written by Xu Hun in the third year of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (849). At this time, the Tang Dynasty was already in a stormy time, politics was very corrupt, and peasant uprisings broke out one after another. One autumn evening, the poet boarded the ancient building of Xianyang to enjoy the scenery and improvised this seven-tone song.
