what kind of experience is tooth extraction? I recently pulled out a crooked wisdom tooth, and I'm here to share it, because I also read the experience of other friends before pulling out the tooth and found it very useful. I hope my experience can also help others.
1. Whether to pull out
wisdom teeth depends mainly on the long condition, such as whether it is impacted or not, whether there is tooth decay or not. My wisdom teeth are impacted teeth, which means they are crooked. I've been growing for ten years, and I haven't been decayed. Except for the first time, it will hurt for a while, and then it won't hurt anymore, so I haven't moved. Recently, I decided to get rid of it on a whim. After all, crooked wisdom teeth are easy to cause problems in the front teeth. Of course, the easiest way to pull it out is to ask the doctor.
2. Never fight an unprepared battle
As the saying goes, never fight an unprepared battle. Ever since I decided to have my teeth pulled out, I've been feeling anxious, so I need to do some psychological construction.
People are often afraid because they don't understand, so in the first step, I first learned about the process of tooth extraction. I took the classics from my colleagues who had pulled out their teeth, read the articles written by dentists on WeChat WeChat official account, and went to Zhihu to read others' experience sharing, which was a basic understanding of the whole process of tooth extraction.
once the initial psychological construction is completed, don't hesitate to act quickly. Which hospital should I go to? The most famous dentistry in Shanghai is Jiuyuan, but being famous also means that there are many people. It takes two weeks to get the number online, and I have heard that Jiuyuan will have to wait for a few months for tooth extraction. I really don't want to wait so long.
Actually, the top three hospitals and dental clinics are both good choices. In order to make this anxious matter quickly, I decided to go to the nearest top three hospital: Sixth Hospital. As it turns out, the dentistry of the Sixth Hospital is also great!
3. First time to see a doctor: take a photo, have a blood test, and make an appointment
Make an appointment to register at the micro-doctor immediately, which can save a lot of time in the queue. On the afternoon of June 5th, I came to the dental department of the Sixth Hospital as promised. I entered the initial consulting room for the first time, and there were only two doctors in it. After the doctor checked, he made a list and immediately took an X-ray in the next room. The purpose of filming is to see clearly the growth of teeth and judge the difficulty of tooth extraction.
The X-ray was simply printed on the back of a prescription, and my teeth were exposed. When I saw it, I was a little surprised, but more curious. It turned out that my teeth looked like this.
The film clearly shows my crooked wisdom tooth at the lower right, lying down big and insolently, butting against the front big tooth.
The first-time female doctor handed me over to the male doctor next to him, who made an appointment for my tooth extraction. I thought it would take a month or two, but I didn't expect it to be pulled out in 2 days. Girls should pay attention to avoid the physiological period and calculate the date. Eat a good meal that day, and the doctor said that if you don't eat, you can't stand anesthesia.
I asked the doctor, is my tooth difficult to pull out? The doctor replied, "Not the hardest". My heart is cold, which means it is still very difficult. Then he asked, "Do you need experts to pull it out?" The doctor said calmly, "I'll pull it out for you." I didn't have the nerve to ask him if he was an expert again. Fortunately, the doctor's voice is very nice and his speech is gentle, which is a little comfort.
Then the doctor wrote a blood test list to test a bunch of blood-borne diseases, and asked me to take the test results with me when I pulled my tooth next time. Finally, after the blood is drawn, the first visit is over.
4. Second visit: Departure
During the 2 days of waiting, I continued to feel a faint anxiety, so that I kept saying "I'm going to have my teeth pulled out" all day, and my colleagues were probably tired of hearing it. Two days before the tooth extraction, I actually started to have a headache. Fortunately, I also studied psychology. I believe it is all anxiety caused by fear of tooth extraction. Just leave it alone. As it turns out, my head really doesn't hurt after pulling out my teeth.
Finally, on June 25th, the tooth extraction day came. In order to relieve my anxiety, my husband asked for a half-day leave to accompany me to the hospital, but he had to sit outside all the time.
This time, I came to the next big consulting room, No.6 clinic, which was the male doctor last time. He was wearing a mask, and I recognized him from his voice. Well, it was that beautiful voice.
I went to the operating table. Oh, that's the recliner. The doctor gave me an anesthetic first to remind me of a little pain. I feel fine, and I haven't had the pain of drawing blood and pricking needles yet. Not long after the anesthetic, I never felt any pain again.
Then, the doctor said, "Let's grind it", and I pounded it in my mouth for a while. During this period, I suddenly felt that I could not swallow saliva, and I involuntarily made a nausea, which interrupted the doctor's operation. I only heard the doctor say something was broken, so I was in trouble and didn't catch it clearly. The doctor was patient, reminding me to breathe through my nose and keep my tongue away, while continuing to operate. I only feel that there is a great force acting on my teeth, pressing down hard and prying out.
It's probably not loose. The doctor called another female doctor: "Come and knock it for me". He didn't forget to warn me: "I'm going to give you a knock, it will be a little shocking", and then I just felt the bones of my whole face shaking. Although I didn't see it, I imagined that he took a small hammer and banged it with a small stick under it.
After a few knocks, the doctor asked me how I felt. I touched the mandible on the other side and said it hurts here. By the way, I can talk during tooth extraction. The doctor kindly touched where I pointed, as if to fix my face.
after knocking for a while, my tooth finally loosened, and the doctor pulled it out with a strong force. Finally, I heard the doctor say, "Let me give you two stitches." I just know that I have to sew a needle after pulling out my teeth. Finally, the doctor put gauze in my wound and let me bite.
at this point, the tooth extraction is complete. The journey takes about thirty minutes.
5. One week after tooth extraction
After tooth extraction, I asked the doctor many questions, and the doctor patiently answered them one by one. Finally, I was prescribed cephalosporin for a week, and the painkiller was taken when it was too painful, and there were two bottles of mouthwash made by the Sixth Hospital. The doctor told me to bite the gauze for an hour, not to spit or suck the wound. After two hours, I can eat, eat soft things, ice compress, brush my teeth after 24 hours, and take out the stitches after one week.
as for my own feelings, well, it is like this. When I just pulled out my teeth, I felt numb and could talk, but it sounded strange. In the next 1-2 hours, the anesthetic gradually subsided, and I felt a pain and numbness. Finally, the anesthetic was gone, leaving only pain.
when I got home, I leaned on the sofa, put an ice pack on my face, tried not to move my tongue, and swallowed all the saliva and blood in my mouth. These hours are probably the most uncomfortable stage in the whole tooth extraction process, but overall, the pain is tolerable and I didn't take any painkillers. The wound looked red, but it soon stopped bleeding.
after about four hours, I thought it was time to eat something. I cooked a bowl of porridge, but I found that I couldn't eat it, mainly because it hurt to open my mouth. I had no choice but to make a bowl of sesame paste, and then I drank a glass of milk, which was considered as a dinner.
The next day, I went to work. Naturally, the tooth extraction still hurts, but it is not so serious. I had a bowl of porridge for lunch. But I started to have a fever the next afternoon, and the highest temperature reached 37.8℃ at night. I didn't do anything except take medicine on time and ice for a while at night. I brushed my teeth lightly the next night.
On the third day, I miraculously stopped having a fever, and I began to eat some noodles and soft dishes, but I had to chew on the side without tooth extraction and eat very slowly. After a few days, although there is still some dull pain, it has not affected life much. As for the face, there was a little swelling a few days ago, but it was not obvious. It seems that there is no face-lifting effect.
6. Third visit: A week later, I went to the Sixth Hospital again, and this time I went to the small room in the initial consultation room to have my stitches removed. I sat on the couch, and the doctor made a few strokes in my mouth with a gadget, which lasted less than ten seconds, with only a slight feeling. When I was waiting for further operation with my eyes closed, I only heard the doctor say, it's disassembled, come down quickly. It turned out to be over. The doctor said the wound grew well.
It's been four days since the thread was removed. Except for some strange feeling, it's basically normal, except that there is a hole in the tooth extraction place, so the food you eat is easy to fall in, so try to eat it on the other side for the time being.
7. Summary
In the final analysis, there is nothing to be afraid of. Resist the inner anxiety before pulling out, follow the doctor's advice after pulling out, and endure the pain for a few days, and nothing will happen. Of course, everyone's situation is different, and the difficulty of tooth extraction is different. The most important thing is to trust the doctor.
Finally, I confess that the doctor in the Sixth Hospital is patient and gentle, and his voice is really nice, but I don't know his name.
