According to legend, Hanshan Sansheng lived in Changsha, Hunan Province, and were three brothers. According to Hanshu Zhangdadian, they are descendants of the founding heroes of the Han Dynasty. Eldest brother Zhang Guiqing was born on September 15th, the eighth year of the Northern Song Dynasty.
The second brother Zhang Guiting was born in Xinmao, Huang You in the Northern Song Dynasty (105 1), and the third brother Zhang Gui was born in the Northern Song Dynasty to Wu Jia (1054) on the 15th day of the lunar calendar. The three brothers are notoriously dutiful sons, diligent and filial. Unfortunate parents died young. The filial Zhang brothers went to find a treasure to bury their parents' disciples.
One day, the Zhang brothers climbed the peak of Hanshan Mountain and found five phoenixes passing through the clouds here, so they decided to bury their parents here. After the burial, it was stormy, flying sand and stones, and the three brothers suddenly floated out of the sky and were listed as immortals. Later, the local people remembered the filial piety of the Zhang brothers and built a temple here to offer incense.
Because the Zhang brothers found clear water for many people along the way, the Zhang brothers gradually evolved into rain gods. Every birthday of Zhang San's brothers, people go to the top of Hanshan Mountain to worship, which is called "Hanshan Birthday".
