A pair of walnuts should be similar in appearance and consistent in grain. They are all linear, dotted or blocky. It is as thin as a baby's breath. It looks beautiful. A little prick is good for your health. The lines are thicker, and the cytoplasm grows faster and becomes brighter and more obvious after getting started.
Size, obviously can't feel how much bigger, how much smaller. Walnuts should grow vertically, not horizontally. Walnuts that grow straight are definitely better than those that grow crooked. The edges should be straight, wide and strong.
The tip must not be seriously damaged, such as cracks, or the whole tip falls off. There can be no yellow tips, black tips and yellow tendons. The color of yellow and white inclusions generally does not come back, and the area may not be obvious in the future. But walnuts are getting redder and redder, and their tips are always yellow. Whoever buys this kind of walnut will be taken in. Walnut sellers always fool consumers that the yellow tip is fine, and the texture of the yellow tip is different from that of the walnut skin. Playback is a dream.
Tails should be the same, at least of the same kind, such as concave, flat and convex. Walnut tail can't be empty, so-called empty tail won't live long. That's the reason.
The color of walnuts in Wan Wen determines what kind of walnuts can be played. Try to choose light red, light pink and light brown, so that walnuts can play red. Sometimes the skin of white walnuts is not cleaned. Wipe it with sweat on your hands or with a little water, and the real cortex will come out. Red and pink are good skin, and it is easy to get red when you get started. The yellow one is just so-so. It's best not to use the white one. It's not fun to come out. Some of the dark ones have good leather and some have been tampered with.
Walnuts must be of the same color as a whole, which is the most deadly and the most tragic is white and yellow. When you play, white turns yellow and yellow turns red. Different colors are because different trees, the same variety and the same tree generally have little color difference. Different varieties usually have color problems. It is difficult to judge the color of the new walnut, which has been rubbed with water. Two walnuts may have the same color, but the color difference will become obvious after playing for one month, so the only way is that walnuts must be the same variety. Many old players can see the subtle differences in colors.
Weight is also important. Walnuts that are too light have growth problems, either malnutrition or poor grafting. Too light, the general cortex is also poor and not red. Heavy walnuts have a feel to play with. Soak the new walnuts in water. If walnuts are submerged, the weight will be good. Players over 3 years old are well-informed, and you will know whether the weight is good or not by calling walnuts.
Pay attention to the black surface of walnuts. The black part is generally turbid and burnt. Don't worry, it's impossible to fight back unless you beat the whole walnut as black as the shade. Of course, you must have a good walnut cortex to play black. It is estimated that it will be no problem to take it back after 30 or 60 years. Don't listen to those nonsense about selling walnuts. It's true that there is no rape or business. Pay attention to the white powder in walnut pleats, which is not common now. This is peach gum, a fungus. Well, don't buy walnuts. You can't play with the diseased parts of walnuts.
Chemical bleaching is generally not recommended. Of course, some players like this walnut. The color of this kind of walnut is unnatural after playing, but some colors are red, and some colors will be very close to amber, which has higher transparency. Because it has been filled with chemicals, the transparency after playing is better than that of normal walnuts. It is said that it is bad for health (but I have never seen one that is bad for health). Generally, there are sulfur bleaching and hydrogen peroxide bleaching. Sulfur bleaching is more common. Drift walnuts are generally orange-red, fragrant or irritating, and close to the eyes, the eyes will have a sense of irritation. Hydrogen peroxide bleaching is rare, so walnuts are white and I don't want to introduce them too much.
Try not to buy oil. Oiling is for packaging and covering up the defects of walnuts. Some walnuts are damaged or have texture problems, and they are covered with oil. However, after oiling, walnuts will appear shades and color differences.
Some walnuts have undergone knife repair, and when they meet new walnuts, the knife marks are obvious, or the lines are unnatural. You'd better not arrest them, they are easy to fall for. Walnut grain is naturally formed, and most people naturally don't feel it. The repaired grain has regular edges and corners, because the walnut grain is too small to be polished. Natural walnut grain is smooth and tortuous, and the thickness of the same grain is different. Moreover, all the repaired walnuts have been played, and both old players and experienced walnut merchants can see it. When repairing (such as pruning), people can see the problem at a glance. The color of the outermost skin of walnut is different from that of the inner skin. Obviously, they can see it after it is repaired. I carved some things casually myself, occasionally trimmed walnuts, and accumulated some experience.

Three Methods of Walnut Cleaning and Maintenance in Wan Wen
First of all, clean
Cleaning is necessary, but the problem is how to clean without hurting the walnut material. Some people simply soak walnuts in warm water, grab a handful of washing powder, and then brush off the mud in the gap. It's easy to do this. The problem is that the soaked walnuts will soften for a while, secondly, if they are not dried in time, they will be moldy inside, and thirdly, they may crack.
Now introduce one or two better methods. Brush with a brush dipped in detergent or a cotton swab dipped in cleaning agent, then rinse with clean water, and then dry the water on walnuts in time. Dry it. Never blow dry or bake with a hair dryer. Leave it in a ventilated place for another two or three days. You can wash it once every three or five days in summer, once a week in winter, or better according to the sanitary situation of walnuts. If it is not dried in time after cleaning, black mildew spots will appear on walnuts. When it comes to washing walnuts, some people never wash them, while others wash them very often. Some players are used to cleaning the air valve at the tail of walnuts, which is easy to cause air leakage in the walnut liner, and it is easy to get water when cleaning, leading to internal rot and deterioration. If you buy an old walnut and sell it for many years, maybe the original owner is dead and needs to be washed with water.
The cleaning method is: soak in warm water for 5- 10 minutes, and then brush off the attachments on walnuts with a stiff brush bought in the supermarket. The black mud and some dirty pudendal skin can be brushed off. Then dip your toothbrush in shower gel or shampoo, brush it again and rinse it with water. Some old walnuts don't have umbilicus under them, so they may get water after washing. You can seal the navel with candle oil and then scrub it. After brushing, dry it with a towel and put it in your hand until there is no water in the recess.
Second, come on.
Preserving walnuts with walnut oil is the choice of most players. For collectors, there are also many people who protect walnuts so much. Because they can't rub out all the collections. The kneaded walnuts will have a layer of pulp to protect the walnuts, while the unrekneaded walnuts are basically the wood of walnuts that talk directly to the air. Especially in the dry climate in the north, walnuts without protective layer are easy to crack under the conditions of high temperature and high humidity, and oiling can completely or effectively prevent walnuts from being damaged due to season, temperature and climate problems. A variety of oils can protect and improve walnuts. Walnut oil is the best Olive oil has little effect on walnut color, which can prevent walnut from cracking. Sesame oil can deepen the color of walnuts and can also be used for color chasing. Chili oil can solve the problem of light color. An old player said: "The oiled walnuts are as bright as paint when pinched;" Walnuts that have not been oiled are as clear as jade! The evil consequences of oiling are often discovered after ten or even decades. "However, many friends who sell walnuts said," If you can't get the oil, you can't sell it if you love to crack it. "A friend also talked about this oiling method: wrap raw walnuts in silk glasses cloth, wipe them on walnuts, and then put them on a plate. There are different opinions on how to produce oil, but not too often, because it is easy to turn black.
Third, storage
Simple storage. The fresh-keeping box sold in the supermarket is small in size and good in sealing, which is an ideal container for storing walnuts. But if the cloth wrapped with walnut kernel is put together, the walnut oil will naturally volatilize, and the effect is better. After seven or eight days of opening, you will find that these walnuts are smoked evenly by natural walnut oil, and the color changes quickly when used. For the maintenance of new walnuts, be careful not to be too cold or too hot, otherwise it will crack easily. Don't brush it with water immediately, let alone put it on the heater, because the new walnuts come just in winter. Summer tide is easy to produce moths after a long time. Just put the fine powder, and it will last for five or six years. Of course, if the storage conditions are good, or if you move frequently, this problem will not occur.
