Baima Town, Beiliu City, Guangxi

Baima Town, located in the southeast of Beiliu City, governs 9 administrative villages with a total population of 40,489, including 37 167 agricultural population and 3,326 non-agricultural population. The total land area is 78km, and the population density is 5 19 people/km2. The cultivated land area is 1.7 million mu, and there are 38,000 mu of economic fruit forests such as litchi, longan and mango. There are three small reservoirs, Dongye, Shigoujiao and Tanghuang, and Hua Mao Reservoir for irrigation, with paddy field 1.2 million mu. Rice is the main food crop, known as the "endless Fulai Valley", followed by sweet potato, potato, corn and soybean. The cash crops are mainly fruits, asparagus and green peppers, followed by tomatoes, Chinese cabbage and sugarcane. Town-run enterprises include glove factory, woolen mill, furniture factory, red brick factory, food factory, gas station, small hydropower station, tarpaulin weaving technology company, construction company and so on. There are more than 700 farmers engaged in bamboo and awn textile industry in the town, and the number of labor export has always been the first in the city. Culture, education and health have flourished. Baima Central Health Center was awarded the title of "first-class first-class hospital" and "baby-friendly hospital" by the Ministry of Health and the International Health Organization with 1999 respectively. Fuyang Academy, which is listed as a county-level key cultural relics protection unit, is one of the only six academies in Beiliu since the Qing Dynasty.
