There are relatively few disputes about the succession to the throne of Qin Dynasty and Zi Ying III, but with the emergence of more relevant historical materials, there are more and more disputes about the succession process of Hu Hai II.
In the process of Hu Hai's succession to the throne, the most popular one is the "Dune Change" recorded in Historical Records. Qin Shihuang died in a sand dune during his east tour. With the support of Zhao Gao and Reese, Hu Hai tampered with the imperial edict of Qin Shihuang and succeeded him as Emperor Qin Ershi.
In order to consolidate his position, Hu Hai forged the imperial edict of the first emperor and executed his son Fu Su and the general Meng Tian who was guarding the border. Later, he killed other brothers and sisters. Hu Hai became the only living child of Qin Shihuang, and Hu Hai committed suicide.
According to Records of Historical Records, before Qin Ershi ascended the throne, Hu Hai did tamper with the testamentary edict of Qin Shihuang. However, according to Zhao Zhengshu, a bamboo book collected by Peking University in the early years of the Western Han Dynasty, Hu Hai was personally appointed by Qin Shihuang to inherit the throne at the suggestion of Prime Minister Reese and suggestion Feng Qujia.
The so-called "Zhao Zheng" means "Zhao Zheng". Qin Shihuang, named Ying Zheng, won the surname Zhao. The ancients generally treated men with surnames and women with surnames. Therefore, Zhao Zheng is a more formal and respectful address to Qin Shihuang, while directly addressing Ying Zheng means contempt. Zhao Zhengshu is actually a short biography of Qin Shihuang's deeds before and after his death.
According to Zhao Zhengshu, Qin Shihuang was very sad when he was terminally ill. He called Li Si and Feng to the bedside to discuss the problem of raising children. Li Si and Feng Quji advised Qin Shihuang: "It's a long way to go, but I'm afraid I have plans. Please make Hu Hai my successor. " The meaning of Li Si and Feng going to the hospital is very clear, because it is a long way back to Xianyang. In order to prevent other sons of Qin Shihuang from getting the support of ministers and plotting to make trouble, they requested that Hu Hai be made emperor. The "minister" here should include Montaigne. It must be false to say that Reese is not worried about Meng Tian's taking photos, but Reese should also consider the stability of the court, so it cannot be said that Reese is completely selfish.
After hearing this, Qin Shihuang said, "Yes." Therefore, Hu Hai's succession to the throne of Qin Ershi was approved by Qin Shihuang.
Relatively speaking, Qin Shihuang is more likely to appoint Hu Hai as his successor. After all, Qin Shihuang believed in Legalism, and Hu Hai followed Zhao's Legalism, which was the same strain, while Fu Su studied Confucianism that Qin Shihuang didn't like. Qin Shihuang sent Fu Su to the border because he didn't like his Confucianism.
Anyway, Hu Hai has become Qin Ershi. Then why did Hu Hai bury Qin Shihuang? The answer is not complicated. No matter how Hu Hai succeeded to the throne as Qin Ershi, he would bury Qin Shihuang with a heavy burial.
One is to announce the legitimacy of inheritance to the world.
If Hu Hai usurps Fu Su's throne, then Hu Hai needs to bury his father Qin Shihuang with great fanfare. Hu Hai's move will make people who don't know the truth feel that Hu Hai's throne was originally given to him by Qin Shihuang. Therefore, Hu Hai should be reburied for the first emperor.
If Hu Hai is appointed to succeed Qin Shihuang, Hu Hai should have a good relationship with his father, and Hu Hai should give Qin Shihuang a good burial.
Second, when Qin Shihuang established the Qin Dynasty, Hu Hai must abide by the etiquette and buy off all the scholars in the world.
In the Spring and Autumn Period, Confucius had advocated the rule of filial piety, and Confucianism had a great influence in the Qin Dynasty. From the Shang and Zhou Dynasties, emperors also had ancestral temples, and legalists also attached importance to them. Therefore, in Zhao Zhengshu, Hu Hai wanted to kill Reese, and Reese listed his seven deadly sins, which were actually the seven achievements of establishing the Qin Dynasty, hoping to impress Hu Hai and make him come to their senses. Among them, "building a country, building an ancestral temple, knowing the sages of the Lord, my sin is five."
Hu Hai wanted to put the throne of Qin Shihuang in the ancestral temple. If we just bury Qin Shihuang hastily, we will certainly be laughed at by the whole world, especially the scholars. So, in order to buy the hearts of people all over the world, Hu Hai had to bury the first emperor.
Third, Hu Hai is not a tyrant through and through.
According to Records of the Historical Records, when Zhao Gao advised Hu Hai to seize the throne of Fu Su, Hu Hai once said: "It is unjust to abolish brothers and establish brothers; It is unfilial to fear death and not obey the father's will; Being thin and talented (meaning less talented) is strong because of people's merits. " Visible Hu Hai is more sensible and filial, also think that their talents are limited.
Hu Hai's later brutality and coma were all Zhao Gao's fault. Zhao Gao was originally Hu Hai's teacher, and Zhao Gao gave Hu Hai a super brain wash. Hu Hai was induced by intimidation, and Hu Hai killed all his brothers and sisters first. Hu Hai got rid of Reese, Feng Quji, Feng Jie and other ministers, and completely isolated Hu Hai. Then, Zhao Gao used words like "calling a deer a horse" to deter Hu Hai and his officials. Everything Zhao Gao did was to usurp the throne in the future, but later, because of his natural vision, "The temple wants to be bad, and the princes are blessed." Zhao Gao was afraid, so he gave the position of III to Zi Ying. It was Zhao Gao who eventually led to the demise of the Qin Dynasty, and Hu Hai also left a cruel image.
In fact, Hu Hai should be very similar to Liu Chan in the Three Kingdoms, except that Liu Chan used Zhuge Liang and other wise ministers because of Liu Bei, and Hu Hai used the wrong Zhao Gao. Hu Hai's eternal infamy is not innocent, but Hu Hai doesn't hate his father Qin Shihuang, so there is no reason not to bury Qin Shihuang.
As for why Hu Hai wanted to kill the craftsmen who built Mount Li, the reason is relatively simple. The ancients paid great attention to geomantic omen, the royal family and Long Mai when choosing cemeteries, especially the imperial houses. If the ancestral graves are stolen, it will be considered as destroying the kingly way and cutting off Long Mai, which is harmful to future generations. Hu Hai, of course, hoped that his destiny would last for a long time, and that the inheritance of the Qin Dynasty would last forever. So it is necessary for him to protect the safety of Lishan Mausoleum.
