But these two pairs of stone lions are really different:
The pair of white marble lions in front of the tomb look very simple. They used to be royal gatekeepers. They were originally used to show the city gates to several generations of grandchildren of Qianlong. 1In July, 935, General Song, then chairman of Chahar Province, bought it in Dingwangfu, Beiping. When the gift was sent to Nanjing, it was placed in front of the gate of Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum, which was specially used for guarding the mausoleum. This pair of stone lions is a mythical beast in Buddhist legend, which can ward off evil spirits, which is different from the real lions in natural form. The traditional stone lions in ancient China are basically of this shape.
A pair of stone lions on both sides of the fourth platform from the monument pavilion to the altar stone steps are carved from mung bean blue-and-white gangyan, and their shapes are obviously different from those of traditional stone lions. The lion is the "king of beasts" in reality, holding his head high and his eyes bright. It makes people feel that "East Asian Sleeping Lion" is awake! This pair of special stone lions is the masterpiece of Jiang Wenzi, the third generation descendant of Jiang Yuancheng, a famous carving shop in Fujian Province, and belongs to the carving method of combining Chinese and western styles. Unfortunately, the right leg of the stone lion on the left is incomplete, which is said to have been destroyed by the shells of the Japanese invaders. Not long ago, this "injured" lion was finally repaired. Come again sometime.
The passage of time will always leave many "mysteries" for people. I am willing to walk with you on the road of exploring mysteries.
