Ten ways to make bicycles faster and faster

First, the tire pressure

The first step is the simplest and most important step: make sure your tires are inflated to the right pressure. Generally speaking, if the tire pressure of your bicycle has been around 85psi in the past few months, you may not notice anything unusual when you get used to it. But when you charge the air pressure to 100- 120psi, it is obviously different.

The air pressure of some inner tube tires can even expand to 200psi without damaging the tires. Of course, it depends on the parameters of the inner tube tire itself. However, this does not mean that you will be in a hurry: because the tire cannot be deformed, the rolling resistance will become greater.

If the tires you use are heavier training and commuting tires, I suggest you change them to lighter ones, such as using a lighter inner tube with Michelin Pro3Race.

Second, transmission efficiency.

The noisy and dirty transmission system will make you feel bored physically and mentally, which will not only lead to the inability to concentrate when exerting power, but also consume time. By cleaning the chain, guide wheel and transmission device, wipe off dry lubricating oil and dust that will hinder transmission, and then add new lubricating oil. Use special chain cleaning tool or cleaning spray to clean each chain one by one, then add lubricating oil, and finally wipe off excess lubricating oil.

If the guide wheel is removed, it is easier to unscrew the small bolt by removing the chain. Usually use a 3 mm Allen wrench. In order to ensure smooth rotation, the bushing and sleeve can be disassembled and cleaned, and then a few drops of lubricating oil with medium or above concentration can be dropped and reassembled. You can choose oils such as FinishLineCrossCountry.

Third, the wheelset.

If you have extra money at your disposal, you can consider spending some money on the wheelset. If you want to run a time trial, you can choose a knife wheel with fewer spokes. Because there is less wind resistance, you will immediately feel faster.

Assemble accurately and ensure that your brakes and gears can be used freely on new tires. Check whether the height and position of the brake pads are appropriate to the rim tire edge, which can protect your tire sidewall from damage.

Fourth, buy a pair of rest handles.

In order to make significant progress, consider buying ProfileAirstrykes, CenturyZB or other entry-level rest bars. This will make your body bend down and put your hands together, thus reducing the windward area and wind resistance.

Install the armrest correctly, don't change your accustomed seat height because of their incorrect position, and coordinate with the armrest in the regular season. Make sure that all screws and bolts are oiled. Carbon part glue is used between the handlebar and the clamp of the rest handle to prevent the rest handle from slipping when it is forced, and also to prevent the screw of the clamp from being too tight. Armrest seats should also be installed. When the front arm and the upper arm lean against the rest handle at 75-90 degrees, the distance from the rest seat to the elbow is 1/3 of the forearm.

Five, keep clean and comfortable.

Check the front of your car and see if you can make it cleaner. Fasten the handlebar everywhere. You can use insulating tape to help you stick the ends of the handlebar firmly. In addition, tie the scattered wires with a belt to ensure that it will not hinder the movement of the handlebar, so as not to cause danger. Finally, re-check the sensitivity of speed change and braking, because these may be affected by line changes.

Make sure that the armrest seat is in the right position and the tightness is appropriate, and the' cushion' of the rest seat should also be selected properly, because comfort is very important, which can reduce the pain of arms and elbows caused by high-intensity riding. Pay attention to the front edge of your seat cushion: If you feel uncomfortable with the seat cushion when using the armrest handle, you should lean your seat forward slightly.

Six, tight tooth ratio flywheel

Just as the tight gear of a car is better than the gearbox, nothing is more satisfactory than the slight gear difference on the cassette flywheel, because you will find that the pedaling rhythm of your legs is ideal. If the rhythm changes frequently, you need more physical strength and time. The gap between different gears is minimized within the allowable range, which means that your energy output is kept at an ideal value.

Therefore, between 14t and 19t, 1 tooth difference of each gear is the best, and 16t and 18t are the best. Shimano's CS-6700 has 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18,/kloc-. Note: If you climb more mountains, you need a lower gear ratio to conquer different slopes.

Put away the chain wrench and flywheel tool as shown below, and you can use it? The principle of scissors is to assemble and disassemble the flywheel. When installing a new flywheel, remember to oil it and tighten it.

Seven, lose weight

Because every extra weight is a burden to you, you need to take it to climb every mountain and walk every road, which is an unnecessary burden to yourself, so try to reduce the weight of your car.

If you ride less than 10 km (or less than half an hour), you can remove the kettle and kettle rack. However, you still have to consider how far you have to ride and the temperature of the day. If it's really hot and dry, it's not fun to ride thirsty.

Remove all unnecessary parts, including fender, pump, headlight, reflector, seat bag (after all, training speed with road bike is in daytime, in a safer environment), and then clean the whole car to make it look shiny, so that you can ride faster!

Eight, data monitoring

Use a stopwatch or heart rate test equipment to see how many blocks you can ride and what kind of losses you will suffer! Leave some room on the handlebars. If not, remove the bell, lamp or luminous film to make room.

If you have installed a rest handlebar, so there is no extra room for the handlebar, consider some products such as a small bracket, which can help you install the accessories you need. ProfileDesign's universal instrument panel is a good choice.

When installing the timing magnet on the wheel, first find the heaviest point of the wheel: it can rotate freely until it stops, and the heaviest point will be in the direction towards the ground. Generally speaking, this point will be at the gas nozzle. Then install the magnet in the opposite direction, so that the wheel will rotate more smoothly.

Nine, avoid accidents

Avoid the embarrassment that the rear wheel falls off or falls when starting because of the unstable control of the front. If your bicycle is equipped with a cheap nylon camshaft-lined quick release lever (as shown below), you can consider replacing it with a more suitable all-metal version, such as the quick release lever of Campagnolo (as shown below) or Shimano (as shown below).

In order to ensure the proper locking force, the quick release locking lever should be locked from the time when there is still one-eighth turn (i.e. 45 degree angle) from the locking dead center, so as to ensure that the locking can be completed with little force in the remaining stroke.

Check all other parts of the car, especially the handlebar and head pipe, as well as the bolts, anchor bolts, pedals and seats of the toothed plate arm.

Streamlined

Try to reduce the wind resistance of your car and yourself and form a streamline. Improving your bicycle shoes is a good start.

Buy some riding shoes and covers in rainy days, and thinner lycra shoes and covers are also acceptable. The quality of BBB's Lightflex thin shoe covers is quite good, and these shoe covers can well fold the magic belt on the shoes.

If you ride a long distance and the weather is very hot, the hovercraft will be very useful. Specialized has a neat-looking broken-wind kettle and a special kettle rack, which is called Virtue, and the price is real.

If your budget allows, a time trial helmet and a one-piece tight cycling suit will be an economical choice to effectively reduce time consumption.
