The Daiwangfu was established on the basis of imperial academy in Liao, Jin and Yuan Dynasties. Imperial academy is an ancient imperial academy, the highest institution of learning of Xijing Royal at that time, and also a national academic research institution. Sometimes the emperor comes to the scene in person, or gives lectures or invigilates. This place is no ordinary place. Its feng shui is firmly located in the east of the city. Although not on the central axis of the city, but at the source of the sun, it is also a favorable place for gossip (root side), and the prince can not be in the same place as the son of heaven. Therefore, it is very appropriate to build a palace with imperial academy as the orientation.
In the twenty-fifth year of Hongwu (1392), when Zhu Gui 18 years old, he came to Datong to become a vassal and began to establish a generation palace. To the east of Wang Fu, he also set up the Datong Avant-garde and Guard Corps, each with 8,500 soldiers. There were 17000 soldiers in the old city at that time. It was only because Wen Jian and Emperor Yongle later cut Francisco several times that he had less than a company escort, but the atmosphere around Wang Fu was also great. Officials want to dismount, and ordinary people dare not look.
The building of Daiwangfu is divided into three main lines. It is said that when Emperor Yongle was building the Forbidden City, he sent people to inspect it for the second time, and the surrounding red walls were exactly the same as those in the Forbidden City. From south to north, the central axis of the internal building is Yumen (the door mentioned here is actually the corridor hall), Li Duan Gate, Carrier Gate, Carrier Hall, Chongxin Gate, Intention Hall, Changchun Palace Gate and Guang Zhi Gate. Later, an alley was left here, which is now called Guangshengdian Lane. On the east axis, from south to north are Guangshancang, Changchun Palace, Qinwanglou, Qingshu Hall, Zongmiao, Yanju Hall and Donghou Hall. On the west axis, from south to north are Jimen, Shejitan, Fengyun Leiyutan, Dacheng Hall, Jinde Hall (there are three halls in this hall) and Xihoutang in turn. In addition, Tijen Gate was built in the east and Xihua Gate was built in the west. Such a luxurious building is comparable to the Forbidden City in Nanjing and the Forbidden City in Beijing.
