Wenxilang bridge

Wenxi Covered Bridge is located at the entrance of Wenxi Village, Peifeng Town, Yongding County, at the junction of Peifeng Town and kan shi zhen.

Wenxi Covered Bridge is a single-hole masonry structure, with houses built on it and crossing Wenxi River from north to south.

The bridge body is all made of feldspar strips and covered with pebbles, forming a huge single-arch stone bridge, just like a beautiful rainbow stopping at the canyon. The bridge is about 5 meters wide and 60 meters long, from the entrance at the northern end of the bridge to the exit at the southern end. Brick-concrete gallery with reddish glazed tiles has three overlapping eaves, the highest in the middle, and one layer on each side. The pavilions on the north and south sides of the bridge head are the lowest and symmetrical. East porch window, west dense wall. The eaves outside the bridge form a poncho. The eaves around correspond to the peak, and the cornices are upturned.

There are two shrines arranged side by side in the house, which enshrine two gods: Marshal Zhao Gongming, the folk god of wealth, on the left; On the right is Emperor Tian Xuan, who is often worshipped by scholars for fame and wealth. There is a pair of couplets on each side: "Connecting the world's financial resources and benefiting the whole people", from which we can see that the local people have a strong desire to get rich. 0. Stairs are set on both sides for people to walk; There is a slope in the middle, which is convenient for riding a motorcycle.

At the entrance of the covered bridge, it says: Pei Feng Wen Xi Covered Bridge. There is a couplet on each side: "Hongyuan spring water notes that Wenxi River flows forever in Yongding, and Tongkancheng Road in Chiling Dongshan is peaceful." Dongshan and Quanshui belong to Wenxi Village, Hongyuan, Wenxi and Changliu belong to Peifeng Town, Dalu belongs to Kanshi Town, Chiling belongs to Kongfu Village, Wenxi, Hongyuan, Changliu, Dalu and Kanshi belong to Li Taiping in Ming and Qing Dynasties, and Li Taiping belongs to Yongding County. This couplet cleverly embeds Peifeng and its surrounding place names, which perfectly illustrates the characteristics of this bridge.

According to folklore, Wenxi Covered Bridge existed before the establishment of Yongding County, and then it was dilapidated. In the 14th year of Chenghua in Ming Dynasty (1478), Yongding county was established, presided over by Qiu Yan, a juren, who called for donations to rebuild the bridge into a stone arch bridge, and the stones were piled into a semicircular single-hole arch shape. According to the Daoguang edition of Yongding County Records, "Qiu Yan, a scholar, has a high reputation. In the six years of orthodoxy, there were twelve Chinese-style Yijing, and the official was punished in a single county. " This bridge, formerly known as Hidden Dike Bridge, has no houses on it. The ancient covered bridge is in harmony with dawn, breeze, sunset and water moon. Although it has been attacked by wind and rain and washed away by floods for more than 500 years, Wenxi Stone Arch Bridge still stands. In 2003, it was hosted by Wenxi celebrity Qiu to raise funds for reconstruction.
