Introduction of Baotou Vocational and Technical College Baotou Vocational and Technical College is located in Baotou, the first civilized city in China, which enjoys the reputation of "Pearl beyond the Great Wall" and "Steel City of Grassland". The predecessor of the college is Baotou Machinery Industry School, which was founded in 1956 as a national key secondary specialized school. 1994 became one of the pilot schools of 10 higher vocational education, five years after junior high school. 1998 became one of the earliest independent public vocational and technical colleges in China and was renamed Baotou Vocational and Technical College. 1999 college was changed from a college directly under the central government to a college jointly established by the central ministries and local governments, and was placed under the management of Baotou city in 2006. In 2009, Baotou Staff University was incorporated into the whole system.
In 2004, the college was identified by the Ministry of Education and other six ministries as a training institution to undertake the training of national skilled talents in short supply; In 2008, it was identified as the first batch of national defense science and technology industry vocational education training base by the National Defense Science and Technology Bureau, and in the same year, it was identified as a national model higher vocational college by the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance.
