Wuzhishan county in Hainan is a primitive tropical rainforest.

Hainan is the largest preserved area of tropical natural forests in China, one of the origins of tropical rainforests in China, and a green pearl in the same latitude on the earth.
There are 4,200 species of plants in Hainan Island, belonging to 198 family, 1 109 genus, and more than 400 species of trees and shrubs 1400, accounting for 28.6% of the species of trees and shrubs in China. Among more than 800 species of arbor, 458 species are listed as national commercial timber, and more than 200 species are listed as precious trees. There are more than 2,500 kinds of medicinal plants, 89 kinds of oil plants and 0/42 kinds of fruit trees. The investigation shows that the species number of tropical rain forest in Hainan is 258-285, which is more than that of subtropical evergreen forest in northern Guangdong 160, and it is known as the gene bank of tropical biological species. There are 0/04 species of wild reptiles, 344 species of birds and 76 species of mammals in Hainan tropical rain forest. There are 14 species of Hainan deer, black-crowned gibbon, clouded leopard and monitor lizard, which are listed as national first-class protected animals.
Hainan's forests are famous all over the country. The China government repaired Tiananmen Gate and built Chairman Mao Memorial Hall, both of which transported hundreds of cubic meters of timber from Hainan. Because of his excellent work, a lumberjack from Jianfengling Forestry Bureau in Hainan was also rated as a national model worker.
The research of tropical forestry research institute of China Academy of Forestry shows that the diversity index of tropical virgin forest in Jianfengling of Hainan Island reaches 5.78 to 6.28, which is not inferior to the data of 5.4 in Myanmar and 6.2 1 in Brazil.
Tropical forests account for about 40% of the global forest area. Due to the unreasonable exploitation of tropical forests by human beings, the average annual felling rate of tropical forests has reached 0.6%, and that of China has exceeded 1%, which has been reduced by half in 40 years. During the Western Han Dynasty (BC 1 10), the coverage rate of tropical virgin forests in Hainan Island was over 90%, and only 50% remained in the Qing Dynasty. In 1950s, there were 6,543.8+0.5 million mu of primary forests in Hainan, with 5.7 million mu left in 6,543.8+0.987, and now it has risen to 9.89 million mu, most of which are naturally regenerated secondary forests after being cut down or destroyed. The central part of Hainan is a mountainous area, which is a virgin forest area composed of tropical rain forest and monsoon forest. Five tropical forest areas in Hainan are Wuzhishan forest area, Bawangling forest area, Jianfengling forest area, Diaoluoshan forest area and Limushan forest area. Hainan has a large area of tropical natural forests. According to the investigation in 1994, it reached 587,300 hectares, accounting for 17.3% of the whole province. It is mainly distributed in mountainous areas more than 500 meters in the south-central part, and it is vertically distributed due to geographical conditions. From top to bottom, it is the hilltop dwarf forest, tropical mountain rain forest, tropical rain forest, tropical monsoon forest, tropical coniferous forest and mangrove forest. The main characteristics of tropical natural forests are tall trees, dense evergreen trees, many species, great age difference, complex stand structure, often more than 3-5 layers, widespread root pressure, abundant epiphytes on trees, developed woody vines and flowering old stems of big trees. Hainan has the richest tropical biological resources, with 4200 species of woody plants belonging to 259 families 1347 genera, accounting for about one seventh of the country. Among them, more than 630 species are endemic to Hainan, and more than 20 species are rare trees. The plants with the largest number of tropical flowering plants in the world, belonging to 17 families, are all found in Hainan Island. There are more than 2,900 species of resource plants in the island, including more than 2,500 species of medicinal plants, and more than 500 species listed in the Pharmacopoeia, including anticancer plants 13 species. Hainan is known as the "natural drug storehouse". Hainan's forest coverage rate is 5 1.5%, and it was awarded the honorary title of "Afforestation and Greening Planning Province" by the State Council. Tropical forests not only have good economic and ecological benefits, but also become a good place to carry out forest tourism and eco-tourism. There are 73 nature reserves in the province, of which 5 are national and 9 are provincial/kloc-0. There are 56 terrestrial vertebrates1species, including amphibians 102 species, of which one species 15 species and 87 species of the second species. Most of the platforms between the coastal plains and the central mountainous areas have been developed into tropical cash crop areas.
