Opening the book is beneficial: the benefits of reading the "Book of Changes"

?I had insomnia last night. The reason was: I Ching trouble. The ancients said: Read scriptures on a hard day, and read history on a soft day. What is Hard Sun and Soft Sun, which means Yang Sun and Yin Sun. The ancients believed that odd numbers were yang and even numbers were yin. They divided years, months, days and hours into yin and yang, which makes sense. My experience is that when you read the Bible on a bright day, that is, when you are full of energy and refreshed, you can read smoothly and gain results; when you read history on a cloudy day, you read history when you feel depressed and tired. What is history? Stories about people and things can regulate the body and mind and straighten out emotions. The ancients also said: If you don't read at night, it will be easy. It is said that the I Ching is very magical, and it is easy to fall into it if you read it smoothly. I don’t believe it’s so evil. I read a few of Confucius’ hexagrams last night and I really couldn’t sleep. It seems that if you don't listen to the ancients, you will suffer big losses. Insomnia also has its benefits: I memorized a few formulas and hexagrams, and wrote a note.

?The benefits of reading the Book of Changes are three points and nine words: gain knowledge, understand gains and losses, and judge the general trend.

?About long knowledge. After reading the Book of Changes for two or three days, I have memorized many basic concepts and their relationships. For example, Yin Yang, Five Elements, Heavenly Stems and Earthly Branches, Eight Trigrams and Nine Palaces, etc. were grasped very piecemeal before, but now I understand the principles behind them. One day, when we talk at the wine table, you can open your mouth and say "Eastern Jia Yi Mu", "One number of hurdles and two number of Kun", etc., and you can talk about it in detail, it should be able to scare people. I remember that when my daughter was in elementary school, she asked me a math problem one day. At first glance, it is a nine-square grid. Fill in the numbers 1 to 9 in the grid. The sum of the vertical, horizontal and diagonal numbers is equal to 15. In "The Legend of the Condor Heroes", Huang Rong taught Ying Gu to arrange this, and remembered roughly: two and four are shoulders, six and eight are feet, and five are in the middle palace... She got it right once she explained it to her daughter. Now think about it, wouldn't it be better if I had read the Book of Changes, filled in the numbers and corresponding hexagrams in the nine palace grids, and then explained the principles to my daughter. At least her image would have improved instantly.

?I read a biography about Tang Bohu a few years ago and remembered a sentence: A man with a tomb in his chest is a beggar. I quoted it many times when I was young, thinking that Dian Tomb meant piles of classics. After reading the Book of Changes, you will know that you have misunderstood it. Dian tomb refers to the five Dian and three tombs. The Five Codes are the Five Books, the Three Tombs are the Three Yis, and the Lianshan Yi, Guizang Yi, and Zhou Yi. The first two have been lost, and only the Zhou Yi remains.

? About knowing the gains and losses. One of the main contents of the I Ching is to predict good and bad luck, and it is quite useful to master some basic rules and principles. For example, in ancient times, when marching and fighting, they walked into a valley and there was a fast-flowing river next to it. If they knew something about the Book of Changes, they would know that they had to pass quickly; coupled with the bad weather with lightning and thunder, the hexagrams were the wind and thunder hexagram and the sky thunder hexagram, also called the bone hexagram. , Coffin and Coffin hexagrams are signs of bloody disasters. If someone wants to die, it will be like an ambush everywhere, and he will definitely die. These places and weather conditions are known as desperate places. Whether it is marching, fighting, or traveling, they must be avoided. For another example, Feng Shui comes from the Book of Changes. We often hear now that when choosing a location for building a house, it is definitely a good place to have a river in front of it, a mountain at its back, facing south, a forest in the east, and a forest in the west. , the so-called "four-guard place" means that you can sit firmly and live for a long time. But the shortcomings are also obvious. It is easy to lose fighting spirit and self-motivation due to being too comfortable. Therefore, although Chengdu and Guanzhong are rich in resources and people, the people are stable and have little fighting spirit. When strong enemies hit the door, they usually surrender without making any resistance (for example: Ziying, Meng Chang). Even today, people here cannot endure great hardships and dare not go out and work hard. Another example is Henan, a flat plain with no danger to defend. It is a "land of four wars". Since ancient times, the people have suffered from military disasters, so their brains are easier to use. These principles and laws mentioned in the Book of Changes are very scientific and have a profound influence on Chinese people. It can be said that they pervade daily life. If you understand a little bit, you will be smarter and clearer.

?About judging the situation. What does Yi in the Book of Changes mean? Confucius said: Change does not change. That is to say, it is constantly changing. But Confucius also said that "the Tao is not practiced in vain" and "there are images in the sky and forms on the earth", which can be understood, mastered and utilized. We know that leaders and governments dominate and even create situations, and big businessmen also have this energy; elites and elites are good at grasping and utilizing situations, so they can do great things; mainstream people follow the situation closely and pick up small fish and shrimps. And so on, they are stuck all their lives; there are still some people who can't keep up with the situation, whether they are officials, businessmen, or any other profession. Once they can't keep up, they will either be kicked out or left behind. The I Ching tells you about variables and their development trends. As for how to deal with them, it is up to you. In short, once you learn the steps of life, you will be more calm and will not stumble along the way.

?This is the benefit of reading the Book of Changes. It may not be complete, but it is obvious.
