1. Selection of planting site
Purple-leaf dwarf cherry peach has low requirements on soil and grows normally in light clay, loam and sandy loam. It is a hybrid of purple leaf plum and dwarf cherry, so it inherits some advantages of purple leaf plum and can tolerate mild saline soil. Purple-leaf dwarf cherry likes light, and leaves will turn green when planted in weak light, so it should be planted in a place with good light.
2. Water and fertilizer management
① Purple-leaf dwarf cherry is drought-tolerant, and can be thoroughly watered and rejuvenated in early spring and late autumn every year, and watered with frozen water. When it is windy and dry in spring and autumn, it can be sprayed on the leaves once in the morning and once in the evening after the seedlings are born, which can replenish water, reduce the pressure on the roots and improve the survival rate of seedlings. In summer rainy days, the pit should also be drained in time to prevent the water temperature from rising after sunrise and affecting the roots. In addition to the fertilizer applied when planting, new seedlings should also be fertilized during the growing season.
② Apply NPK compound fertilizer in early spring and early summer, and then apply round fertilizer or sesame paste residue in late autumn. For newly planted seedlings and seedlings with poor fertilizer growth, choose to spray them in the early morning or late afternoon, not at noon or after rain when the light is sufficient. The spraying frequency is three times, with an interval of two weeks.
Eliminate pests and diseases
In the process of cultivation, peaches are vulnerable to spider moths, aphids, red spiders, leafhoppers and mealybugs. Every winter, try to whitewash the trunk and branches and scrape the eggs and cocoons clean. This disease should be treated in time. Deltamethrin can kill Acacia, aphids, leafhoppers and mealybugs, while dicofol can control red spiders.
prune
Purple dwarf cherry is resistant to pruning, which can be pruned in late spring and early autumn every year to make the surface of the hedge smooth and the branches protruding from the side of the hedge should also be pruned; For ornamental seedlings, the pruning of ornamental seedlings should be carried out in late spring and early autumn to make the hedge surface smooth. Purple-leaf cherry is a foliage shrub. When pruning, leave as many branches as possible, remove some lower branches, cross branches and competitive branches, and keep a few inner branches. When the branches are long enough, they should be pulled out to promote lignification and increase side branches.
Overwintering management and pest control;
Purple-leaf dwarf cherry is cold-resistant, and adult seedlings can be painted white with trunk. For newly planted seedlings, root culture and trunk wrapping can be used, and seedlings can be covered at the same time. After trunk treatment, the newly planted seedlings can overwinter by whitewashing in the second year. As long as management is strengthened, freezing injury will generally not occur. There is no need to take cold-proof measures to manage large and small seedlings in nursery, but attention should be paid to pests such as aphids and white lice in late summer and early autumn, and imidacloprid solution can be used for spraying.
