"Guilin's landscape is the best in the world" —— An analysis of the geological reasons why Guilin's landscape is the best in the world

The limestone in Guilin basin is extremely thick; Maoershan, the main peak of Yuechengling in the north of Guilin, has an annual precipitation of 2500 mm, which is the rainstorm center of that generation. The precipitation in Guilin and the eastern and western mountainous areas is above 1500 mm; There are Haiyang Mountain in the east, Jiaqiaoling Mountain in the west and Yuechengling Mountain in the north of Guilin Basin. These three mountains are not karst mountains, so the precipitation will not leak and eventually converge into a river (Lijiang River). Two-thirds of the Lijiang River basin is non-karst, and these two-thirds of the non-karst water flows to Guilin Basin, which only accounts for one-third of the basin. Therefore, the above five conditions are satisfied.

Like a meat cleaver, the Lijiang River system is carved with deep limestone, which dissolves the slope angles of the peaks in the basin, makes its slopes collapse and retreat in parallel, and shapes them into independent peaks, forming a peak forest plain. The combination of mountains and water forms the beautiful scenery of Guilin.
