From April to June 1945, he attended the Seventh National Congress of the Communist Party of China as a member of the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan delegation. From November of the same year to August 1947, he served as the political commissar of the Fourth Independent Brigade of the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Military Region of the Eighth Route Army.

From September to December 1947, he served as political commissar of the 28th Brigade of the 10th Column of the Shanxi-Hebei-Shandong-Henan Field Army. He led his troops into the Central Plains and opened up a base in the Tongbai area of ??Dabie Mountain

From May 1948 to March 1949, he served as the political commissar of the 28th Brigade of Tongbai Military Region.

From February to May 1949, he served as the commander of the 172nd Division of the 58th Army of the Second Field Army.

From June of the same year to February 1950, he served as the commander of the Independent Fourth Division of the Hubei Military Region. He successively participated in the battles of Hengshui, Jixian, Gaoyi, Yuanshi, Gaotang, Puyang, Dengxian, Xiangfan, and Huaihai.

After the founding of the People's Republic of China, he successively served as deputy political commissar and political commissar of the 52nd Army of the 21st Corps of the Chinese People's Liberation Army.
