Tangyin is located in the piedmont where the North China Plain meets Taihang Mountain. Since ancient times, it has been the crossroads of north-south traffic. The Beijing-Guangzhou Railway has hills to the west and plains to the east. Tanghe River, Jihe River and Yongtong River flow from west to east, and Tangyin-Puyang local railway and Hutai highway cross east and west.
It borders Anyang County and Wenfeng District and Long 'an District of Anyang City in the north, across the river from Weihe River in the east, Neihuang County and Xunxian County in the southeast, Daguai Nationality in the south, and Longtang, Wang Zuo and Hebi City in the northwest. The total area is 646 square kilometers.
Tangyin county is dominated by plains, slender from east to west (about 35km) and narrow from north to south (less than 20km). Dong Tang fault has a large fault distance, and the drop of bedrock exceeds1000m. In a word, there are two groups of nearly orthogonal faults in tangyin county area.
