AI drawing flat style succulent plant tutorial 1. Drawing a flower pot Step 1 After opening Adobe Illustrator, create a new document 850x850px. First draw a basin body: use the Rectangle Tool (M) and draw a light gray rectangle. Choose Effect > Warp > Extrude and enter the values ??shown in the image below. Extend Object: Object > Extend Appearance, copy and paste (backup). Step 2 In order to move objects more accurately, we need to use "smart guides". Choose View>Smart Guides (Control+U). Use the Ellipse Tool (L) to draw two ovals: one at the bottom and another at the top of the basin shape. Make the flower pot: Select the base oval and pot shape and select Union using Pathfinder (Window > Pathfinder). Bring the (backed) top ellipse back (Control+B), pull it down a bit, and change the fill color to white. The opening of the flowerpot: Duplicate the top ellipse and place it below (Control+C, Control+B) and move it downwards a little. Change the fill color to white. With the top ellipse selected (not the copied white ellipse) choose Object > Path > Offset Path, enter -4, and change the color to dark gray. Also, look at the left and right sides of the ellipse. Keep the opening of the pot above all layers. Select all shape groups (Control+G) to complete the flowerpot drawing. Make two copies of the flower pot and set them aside because today we are going to plant three succulents. 2. Drawing the Haworthia Succulent Step 1 Create a leaf for our first succulent. Draw a light green oval. Select this ellipse and use the Anchor Point Tool (Shift+C) to click on the top and bottom anchor points to make them sharp. Use the Direct Selection Tool (A) to move the left and right anchor points downward. Step 2 To add some zebra stripes to the leaves, draw several rectangles of different widths on the leaves (use the Rectangle Tool (M)). To make them like waves, select the rectangle and go to Effect > Distort & Transform > Roughen. After that, select all the stripes and choose Object > Expand Appearance. Remove the excess part of the stripe; copy the leaf shape and place it on top (Control+C, Control+F), cut it and copy it (Control+X) and place it on top of all layers (Control+F). With the copied leaf and all roughened rectangles selected, choose Crop in the Pathfinder panel (Window > Pathfinder). Duplicate the leaf shape and place it on top, then select Screen blending mode and Opacity 25% on the Transparency panel. Make this shape smaller and bring it to the top (Control+X, Control+F). Step 3 Make curved leaves: Duplicate some leaves, select a single leaf and go to Effect > Warp > Arc. Adjust the bend to your liking. This is done by moving the slider for the Bend value in the Deformation Options dialog window.
Step 4 Place the leaves in one of our flower pots. Select the top dark oval on the flowerpot and make a copy above it (Control+C, Control+F). For easier viewing, you can add a black stroke. Move its upper anchor point to change the shape so that it covers all the leaves. Cut the leaves into the irregular ellipse: Select all the leaves and the irregular ellipse, then choose Object > Clipping Mask > Make (Control+7). Beautiful Haworthia succulents finished. 3. Draw the Cactus Step 1 First, create a green ellipse and move its left and right anchor points upward, using the Direct Selection Tool (A) and the arrow keys on your keyboard. Finish the base of the cactus. Create an ellipse that overlaps the base of the cactus. Duplicate the base of the cactus (Control+C, Control+F). Select the bottom copy of the cactus and the ellipse, go to Pathfinder - Intersect and change the fill color to light green. Finally, add a smaller ellipse on top. Step 2 Add some spikes to our cactus: draw a bunch of small short lines on the cactus, use the Line Segment Tool () to turn off the fill color, select the round endpoint of the stroke and choose dark green as the stroke color. Step 3: Make a flower: You can use the bottom of the cactus as petals, flatten it slightly and change the fill color. Duplicate the petal (Control+C, Control+B), change its color and stretch the sides slightly. Next, make the first petal on the far left: just copy the petal and rotate it. Rightmost petal: Select the leftmost petal, right-click the mouse, and select "Transform">Symmetry>Vertical" Step 4
