In the spring of 1994, an ancient tomb in the west of Xiyanchuan Village, Lingshan Town, Quyang County, Hebei Province was stolen by grave robbers, and then it was protected by Hebei Archaeological Bureau. In 1995, Hebei archaeologists cleaned up and excavated the ancient tomb. From the unearthed epitaph, it was determined that the owner of the ancient tomb was Wang Zhizhi of Beiping in the early Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms.
Wang Chu's tomb is located in a treasure trove of geomantic omen surrounded by mountains on three sides. It is a double-chamber tomb with two rooms. The tomb retains the legacy of the Tang Dynasty and is built with bluestone. The whole tomb is painted with exquisite murals of servants, landscapes, flowers and birds, cloud cranes and astrology. In particular, there are 18 groups of sculptures in the tomb, such as Samurai Door Gods, Zodiac, Sanle and Serve, which are embossed with Quyang white jade, and decorated on the walls of the tomb.
On both sides of the tunnel behind the tomb gate are two warrior relief figures with raised eyebrows. There is a vivid picture of the zodiac above the four walls of the front room. On the east and west walls of the back room, two reliefs are used to show the pictures of people wearing narrow sleeves, cloaks, long skirts mopping the floor, holding aristocratic daily necessities or various musical instruments, lining up to wait on their masters and playing by bands. Wang Chu's tomb is a treasure of art in tombs.
It turns out that Wang Chuzhi was killed by his adopted son Wang Du, and was buried in the Yangpan Mountain in Dunxin Township, Quyang County the following year (now the Fenshan Mountain in the west of Xiyanchuan Village, Lingshan Town). Wang Du himself has a high level of artistic appreciation. For the sake of face and reputation, Wang Du invited the best craftsmen and artists to build tombs for Wang Chu.
However, the tomb of Wangchuzhi was stolen in the Jin Dynasty. At that time, the grave robbers dug holes into the back room and stole the funerary objects in the back room. Because there was a Shi Zhuan between the front room and the back room and disguised it, the grave robbers failed to enter the front room.
In p>1994, grave robbers opened the tomb by blasting and digging a shaft, and looted the funerary objects and 1 reliefs in the front room and the left and right ear rooms. In 1995, when the archaeologists were cleaning up the tombs, there were only six Chinese zodiac signs, two sculptures of servants and scattered music, and a small number of cultural relics. Later, the relief of a pair of white marble warriors' door gods stolen by grave robbers was turned around for many years, and was finally returned to the government of China.
