1.
Choose loam, sandy loam, and light clay soil with leeward and sunny side, fertile soil, convenient drainage and irrigation, and deep cultivation layer for sowing. After applying base fertilizer, plow and harrow carefully to ensure that the top is empty and the bottom is solid, and the land is flat. The base fertilizer is mainly manure, and applying more base fertilizer will help increase the ground temperature.
2.
The seeds of Ligustrum lucidum mature from November to December. After the seeds mature, they are often covered with waxy white powder. They must be harvested at the right time. Choose a tree with strong vigor, good posture and resistance. The tree with strong sex is used as the mother tree for seed collection.
3.
You can use high branch shears to cut off the fruit ears, smooth out the fruit, immerse it in water for 5 to 7 days, rub off the peel, wash and dry in the shade. You can use 2 parts of wet sand and 1 part of seeds for wet storage. Soak the seeds in hot water from the end of March to early April the next spring. Take them out and let them wet for 4 to 5 days before sowing.
4.
Winter sowing is carried out before freezing, and germination is generally not required. Spring sowing is carried out after thawing, and germination is effective. In order to break the dormancy of Ligustrum lucidum seeds, soak the seeds with 550 mg/kg gibberellin solution for 48 hours before sowing, change the water once a day, and then take them out to dry. After being left for 3 to 5 days, they are then soaked in water at 25 to 30°C for germination. Pay attention to changing the water every day.
5.
Sowing and raising seedlings should be sown from early to mid-March to April. Soak the peeled seeds in warm water for 1 day before sowing, sow with a row spacing of 20cm and a soil covering thickness of 1.5~2.0cm. The seeding rate is about 105kg/hm2. Ligustrum lucidum takes a long time to emerge, about 1 month.
6.
After the seedlings are unearthed, the soil should be loosened and weeded in time, and the seedlings should be thinned. According to conventional management, the height of annual seedlings can reach 50cm.
7.
Ligustrum lucidum is a plant that prefers moisture, but too much water can easily cause diseases. The water must be strictly controlled and water should be sprayed every day to meet the requirements. Ligustrum lucidum's requirements for growth environment.
8.
Spraying water can be carried out using sprinkler irrigation facilities, which can not only ensure the area where water is distributed, maintain the ground humidity well, but also reasonably control the water content without excessive moisture. Seedlings are afraid of waterlogging, so pay attention to drainage.
9.
Ligustrum lucidum does not require much fertilizer to grow in the seedling stage. Just apply foliar fertilizer appropriately, and water-soluble fertilizers can be used.
10.
When the light is particularly strong. Use a sunshade net to avoid high temperatures caused by strong light and affecting the growth rate of seedlings. Weeding is generally done once a month. Be careful when weeding to avoid damaging the roots of the plants. Plants in the seedling stage are susceptible to aphids.
11.
When transplanting in the nursery, shorten the main trunk by 1/3. Only one strong bud can be left under the cut to develop into an extension branch of the main trunk; the other bud opposite to it must be removed.
