During the Warring States Period, a minority in Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province established Zhongshan State, which originated from Xianyu Department of the Di nationality in northern Shaanxi.

The tomb of the ancient king Zhongshan is currently the tomb of the fifth generation Zhongshan, located in Pingshan County.
