Each of us has a part of our own impression of Jiangnan. If most people have any impression of Jiangnan, I believe that the answer given by everyone will be more of an ancient town in Jiangnan characterized by "small bridges and flowing water". This is not surprising. After all, there are many ancient towns in Jiangnan. Apart from the same antique features, every ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River has its own characteristics. Among them, Shui Ge Wuzhen, Li Meng Xitang, Fu Jia Nanxun, Jasper Zhouzhuang, Land of Abundance Tongli and honest and frank Wind are the six ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River that we are most familiar with and internationally renowned.
Because the six ancient towns in the south of the Yangtze River have long been well-known and have their own characteristics, Wuzhen in Shui Ge, Xitang in the dream, Nanxun in Fu Jia, Zhouzhuang in Jasper, Tongli in the land of wealth and the wind in honest and frank all have profound symbols and become their most typical representatives. Therefore, in many ancient towns in Jiangnan, we will also ignore some ancient towns and underestimate some ancient towns in Jiangnan. Qiantong Ancient Town, located in Ninghai County, Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province, is an ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River that has been "ignored" or even underestimated.
The reason why the ancient town of Qiantong is ignored and underestimated is not because of its lack of characteristics or obvious style. On the contrary, it is not only an extraordinary ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River, but also a leisure town without much decoration. Its scenery is more primitive than Wuzhen and Zhouzhuang, and it is known as "Lijiang in East Zhejiang", but its name is little known.
The name of Gantong ancient town is little known, and its existence is often ignored, which has a lot to do with its history and folk customs. Huang Tong was founded in the late Southern Song Dynasty, when it was the official residence of Di Gonglang and the original ancestor of the ancient town of Qiantong. On a trip abroad, he accidentally discovered Gantong, a treasure trove of geomantic omen, which is surrounded by mountains and waters, but not closed, and the geomantic omen is secret. So he moved his family from Huangyan, Taizhou, Zhejiang Province to this isolated place. It is the children who have lived here for generations who have developed their loneliness.
It was Tonggu Town that was once "neglected", so the old houses and old streets of Ming and Qing Dynasties were preserved here, which also led to a small town with the most ancient charm of Confucian culture preserved in eastern Zhejiang being "underestimated" by the world. Founded in the Southern Song Dynasty, it flourished in the Qing Dynasty. In the long river of history, the ancient town of Qiantong did not destroy its original appearance, but maintained its original intention from beginning to end, so it still preserves more than 300 ancient houses in/kloc-0. In the ancient town, "every family has carved beams, and every household has running water". The Bagua river system is full of living water and fresh water, which flows all over every household. "Not like a water town, but better than a water town", the ancient charm of ancient houses, ancient academies and old ancestral halls still exists; Old streets, pavilions and archways complement each other, which is an extraordinary original version of the Ming and Qing dynasties houses in the south of the Yangtze River.
In the long river of history, there are many ancient water towns in Jiangnan. We will fall in love with an ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River because of our personal preference, and we will ignore the existence of an ancient town in the south of the Yangtze River and underestimate its value because we didn't arrive there in time. The same is true of the ancient town of Qiantong. When we have the opportunity to walk into the ancient town of Qiantong, into this extraordinary ancient town of Jiangnan with the original version of the ancient houses of Ming and Qing Dynasties, we will also fall in love with this ancient town of Jiangnan that we have inadvertently ignored.
