After the Cultural Revolution, I was in the fourth grade of primary school, and the Xinhua Bookstore on Jianghan Road attracted me like a magnet. I remember that the bookstore was selling three limited editions of Arabian Nights. I dragged my father to the queue, but the books were sold out. When I walked out of the bookstore, there were several booksellers standing outside the door. Looking at my depressed appearance, my father gritted his teeth and bought this new set of books-three worn-out medical textbooks-from the dealer at a high price in 5 yuan.
Another favorite place to go is the central department store. Near the Spring Festival, my mother wants to buy a sewing machine and is having a meeting with several neighbors. My mother asked me to draw lots for fear of bad luck, so I drew the first one as soon as I drew. So, the family hurried straight to the Central Department Store and chose the "Da Qiao" brand sewing machine made in Taiwan. This is the first big item my family bought, and the whole family has been happy for a long time. Interviewee: Wang Qiang (2 1 year-old) student, address: Shanghai Village, which is the bustling Jianghan Road outside my alley. The specialty stores along the street seem to have new things popping up every day, such as pop songs, CDs, new watches, casual clothes, and all kinds of world war II simulated light weapons with amazing prices and amazing quality. Even if you can't afford it, it's a pleasure to look at these things.
Jianghan Road seems to be like a dynamic boy, changing all the time. Especially on weekend nights, the strong songs from the record house rolled across the narrow road. Strolling through the streets and interacting with many "fashionistas" really has a fantastic feeling: the man riding a motorcycle in black, the "hot girl" with colorful faces and dazzling clothes, and several "car lovers" with yellow hair still appear in the spacious area in front of Le 'an optical shop, showing passers-by difficult driving skills ... When they are tired, they will sit in McDonald's and look like a stream through the huge glass curtain wall.
Sometimes, I envy those who live in tall buildings. After all, the houses in Shanghai Village are too old and the internal structure is very backward. Not long ago, a relative next door came back from abroad and praised the good environment here. Jianghan Road is so beautifully built that I think it's not bad to live in the most prosperous alley in Hankou. For 73-year-old Hu Dexin, Jianghan Road, a century-old street, is both familiar and unfamiliar. Jianghan Road, with a total length of 1600 meters, has become the pride of every Wuhan people with its unique architectural style and prosperous business atmosphere since the opening of 1900. The changes in Hanzheng Street are even more dazzling.
Interestingly, 13 years ago, the old man moved out of Jianghan Road in a rage, left this old street that accompanied him for nearly 60 years, and moved to Huangpi to live with his daughter. Hu Dexin 1989 devoted himself to writing books after retirement. However, Jianghan Road was too noisy at that time. Less than 5 o'clock in the morning, shouts, horns and bustling cars are getting louder and louder. In less than half a year, the old man suddenly lost 6 kilograms, and the manuscript contract with a publishing house was delayed. Finally, he had to cancel the publishing plan. In a rage, the old man moved away.
A series of changes followed, which Hu Dexin never dreamed of. Wuhan first cracked down on the occupation of Jianghan Road. Jianghan District, Hubei Province invested more than 9 million yuan to establish Hualou Street business circle, and accepted tourist vendors that Jianghan Road could not accommodate. Overnight, thousands of vendors on both sides of Jianghan Road found their places, and Jianghan Road suddenly became refreshing. The traffic control department turned red lights on trucks and buses and set Jianghan Road as a one-way street. At the same time, Wuhan Municipal Bureau of Commerce has included Jianghan Road and Zhongshan Avenue in the list of "100,000 fake-free shops in China" to create the image of Jianghan Road with first-class quality and service.
The fun is yet to come. Wuhan people realized that the commercial value of Jianghan Road near the Yangtze River and Hanshui River far exceeded its traffic function, and a bold idea was born: completely transform Jianghan Road and build a modern pedestrian street. In February 2000, the Wuhan Municipal Government invested 65.438+0.5 billion yuan to renovate Jianghan Road with a history of 100 years. In the past, pipes like cobwebs were buried underground, and the entrances and exits of commercial shops were all transparent glass doors. Shop signs are uniform in size, the facade and historical buildings along the street are illuminated as a whole, and outdoor neon advertisements are uniformly set up. A number of squares and green leisure spaces have been built, carved leisure chairs have been installed, and European telephone booths and mobile public toilets have been erected.
After the renovation of Jianghan Road in September 2000, the streets were reopened, and old Hu Man Dexin moved back to the prosperous and civilized Jianghan Road. He often says to people, "It won't be too big in Wuhan until it reaches Jianghan Road."
