Why is Go generally a three-nation competition among China, Japan and South Korea, with no European players participating?

On March 8th, Japan Chess Academy announced the list of 24 players and the competition schedule of the 20th Fujitsu Cup World Go Championship.

List of 24 players:

China (6 people): Zhou Heyang (third runner-up), Chang Hao, Hu,,, Kong Jie.

Japan (7 people): Keigo Yamashita, Zhang Xu, Qiaoxiongwei Road, Yoda Yoshimoto, Maozhao Yokota, Jiechengcong, and Shinya Chung.

South Korea (7 persons): Park Chung-xiang (last champion), Cui Zhehan, Li Changgao, Zhao Hancheng, Li Shishi, Young Joon Park and Gao Gentai.

Taipei, China: Zhou Junxun's Ninth Book.

North America: Li Jie's seventh book

South America: Fernand Aguilar, Group 6.

Europe: Svitlana Hicksina at the beginning of West Kosina

There are no Korean players because there are no professional players in North Korea and their level is not high. Moreover, North Korea is closed to the outside world and has no intention of participating.
