All family visa applicants should be prepared in advance to present the following materials and any other supporting materials related to visa application during the interview: valid passport: If your passport will expire within six months from your expected arrival in the United States, or it is damaged, or there is no blank visa issuance page on your passport, please apply for a new passport before coming to the interview.
A photo: a 5×5cm square color front photo taken within 6 months. Please paste the photo on the DS- 156 electronic visa application form with glue.
Original receipt of visa application fee: You can pay a visa application fee of 904 RMB at any branch of China CITIC Bank in China (effective from July 24th, 2008). Non-immigrant visa applicants must paste the application fee receipt on the last page of DS- 156 electronic visa application form after filling it out and printing it out. Please be careful not to block the barcode area when pasting the receipt, and do not paste the receipt with staples or glue (glue stick).
Complete visa application forms: DS- 156 (required by all applicants), DS- 157 (required by applicants aged 16) and DS-158 (required by applicants for F, M and J visas).
Complete SEVIS form: Family members of international students (F2 or M2) must show their I-20 form; Family members of exchange visiting scholars (J2) must show their own DS-20 19 forms. This form must be signed by DSO and the applicant himself.
Proof of kinship: proof of kinship with the United States, such as the original marriage certificate, the original child birth certificate, letters, family photos, etc.
Legal identification of American family members: legal identification of American relatives, such as copies of passports and American visas, I-20 form for international students, DS-20 19 form for exchange visiting scholars or I-797 form for short-term workers, etc.
Proof of sufficient funds: the applicant will not become a burden to the American public after going to the United States. The supporting documents include the personal income tax form of American families (form 1040), the company's income tax form (form 1020), the company's quarterly report (form 94 1), the W-2 tax form, the bank deposit report or the affidavit of personal financial support (I prove that the applicant has good health insurance in the United States will also help his application.
Please note that the above materials are not exhaustive, and showing them during the interview will not ensure that you get a visa. You must be prepared in advance so that you can reasonably explain your purpose of coming to the United States and the reason for returning to China during the interview, and show relevant evidence to prove your statement.
