What level of competition is the British Cup?

The League Cup refers to the English Football League Cup (EFL Cup), which is a competition between all 92 football clubs in England, regardless of level.

Unlike the British Championship, the British Cup does not need to be graded (League A, League B and English-African League), and the British Cup is not graded. But even so, the English League Cup is the top competition in England. The Cup was founded by 1960 English Professional Football League, with the purpose of making the club play a knockout-based game outside the League, so as to challenge the FA Cup sponsored by the English Football Association, because the FA Cup was far higher in the hearts of fans than the League.

The League Cup is the most extensive and highest-level event sponsored by a "professional league" composed of 24 clubs in the Champions League, Class A and Class B. On February 27th, 2023, in the final of English League Cup in 2022-23 season, Manchester United beat Newcastle United 2-0 and won the championship successfully.

The competition system of the British League Cup

The competition is divided into seven rounds, except for the rematch, and the winner is decided by the single elimination system. Teams will draw lots to decide their opponents and home and away games. If the game is tied within 90 minutes, it will be decided directly by penalty kick.

There are two rounds of host and guest in the semi-final, and each team plays at their own home. The team that scored more points in the two games advanced. This cup has no advantage of scoring away from home. If the total number of goals in the two games is the same, the winner will be decided in overtime. If the number of goals scored in overtime is the same, the visiting team will advance by virtue of the advantage of away goals. If you still can't tell the winner, take penalty shoot-out.

In the first round, the participating teams included all champion teams, team A and team B.. In the Premier League, except for the team that participated in the European Tournament, it was the third round, and all other Premier League teams started to join in the second round.

The League Cup final is usually held at Wembley Stadium in London at the end of February every year. The champion can get a seat in the UEFA European Association League play-off.
