Overall fade-in: adjust the transparency of the text layer and do keyframe animation.
Use the preset animation that comes with AE: Find the "Effects and Presets" panel-animation preset-text-animation in the panel on the right side of AE, and slowly fade in and open it. After selecting the text layer, double-click Fade in to automatically add the fade-in animation to the text layer. More AE tutorials can be found on aepark's website.
