There is a legend about the birth of Confucius in Juye. Confucius' ancestral home is in Shangqiu, Henan Province today, and Juye is the only way from Shangqiu to Qufu. Yan Zhizai, the mother of Confucius, once returned home from Shangqiu with her family and passed by the forest mountain in Juye. Seeing the beautiful scenery of the forest mountain, she suggested stopping here. She sat under a tree in the forest, took a nap, suddenly dreamed that Kirin was in her arms, woke up feeling pregnant, and gave birth to Confucius eleven months later. Two days before Confucius was born, Kirin sent three volumes of jade books to Qufu Que. These people are recorded in the Ming edition of Juye County Records: "There is Qiao's Mountain in the south of Juye, which has been passed down from generation to generation, and Lin spit jade books in the pavilion, hence the name Lin Mountain."
