Brief introduction of Wang Yao Temple

There are many legends about Wang Yao Temple in the local area. Two tigers and one phoenix in Kowloon are the laudatory names of geomantic omen here. Now, standing on the mountain, you can still have a panoramic view of its geomantic potential: the surrounding mountains, such as Kowloon, converge from behind to Phoenix Mountain, and the east and west Tiger Mountain not far in front of the mountain are those two tigers. The whole mountain is lush with trees, just like a phoenix spreading its wings.

According to legend, Wang Yao Temple was built in the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty, and incense was once in full swing, with an endless stream of pilgrims. Every year, the first day of the fifth lunar month is the Wang Yao Temple Fair, which has never stopped since ancient times. Although the temple was once destroyed by war, pilgrims stayed at every temple fair, and ten good believers gathered in front of the temple site to worship in the open air. With the joint efforts of Beijing Staff Training Institute, Jinhaihu Town Government, Huazi Village and other people from all walks of life, the first phase of Wang Yao Temple was officially restored and completed in 2007. At the end of 2008, Wang Yao Temple obtained the certificate of legal Taoist activity place issued by Beijing Taoist Association, a local government department.

Now the main hall of Wang Yao Temple is dedicated to Huang San, Sun Simiao, the founders of Wang Yao, and Zhang Zhongjing, the medical sage; There is a portrait of Gao Zhen, an ancient doctor, hanging on the east and west walls, and there are twenty-four filial piety pictures in the east and west halls. The most striking thing in the hospital is a "thunderbolt cypress" with a tree age of over 500 years. Its crown is lush and its branches are tall and strong. It is said that this kind of tree survived the once-in-500-year lightning disaster (the remnants of lightning can still be seen from the top of the tree), so this kind of tree is extremely effective, and many local people come to seek treatment for stubborn diseases, perhaps willing to do so.
