East Qinglong West Baihu South Suzaku North Xuanwu What do you mean?

As the saying goes, "Left Qinglong, right White Tiger, South Suzaku, North Xuanwu", what does it mean?

China has a long history, and some geomantic terms have been passed down to this day. For example, what do Zuo Qinglong, Right White Tiger, South Suzaku and North Xuanwu mean? In fact, these four sentences represent east, west, north and south, not Qinglong White Tiger.

This was originally related to the primitive religion of human beings and had nothing to do with Feng Shui. At present, the archaeological and ancient documents can be traced back to Fuxi Nuwa, the ancient ancestor of the Yellow Emperor, who is the ancestor of Chinese humanities and ancestors with a very long history. The concept of these ancient beasts is not only single dragon, white tiger, suzaku and Xuanwu, but also hook Chen and Teng snake. Here, the left is east, the right is west, the front is south, the back is north, and the middle is earth. This is the orientation of Gouchen Tengshe. Now it is divided into several major parts.

Zuo Qinglong, Right White Tiger, South Suzaku and North Xuanwu are four great beasts-dragon, tiger, big bird and turtle. They represent four directions-east, west, south and north. In fact, these four sentences first appeared in Zuo Qinglong and Right White Tiger.

Later, with the development of Taoism and the appearance of "Five Elements Theory". According to the "Five Elements Theory", five colors are assigned to the east, south, west, north and middle, and each color is assigned a kind of god beast. The dragon represents the east and the white tiger represents the west. Five-element scholars believe that the east belongs to wood, and the wood is cyan, so the east is a dragon; The west is golden and white, so it is called white tiger. Left and right represent East and West. We often say that China is the dragon of the East and the paper tiger of the West. "Dragons come from fire" and "tigers come from water", and dragons will definitely burn paper tigers in the west.

After the appearance of the theory of five elements, the words "South Suzaku North Xuanwu" appeared. The theory of five elements redefines the sky image: "East Black Dragon, West White Tiger, South Suzaku, North Xuanwu", that is to say, it has completed the north-south direction. The weather in the south is hot, represented by big red birds. It's freezing in the north, everything stops growing, all animals hibernate and the rhythm slows down. Black stands for convergence, Xuanwu stands for black turtle and winter storage.
