There are many crystals in China. Shoushan Stone is the only piece produced in Shoushan Village, the northern suburb of Fuzhou City, Fujian Province. It is made of pyrophyllite produced in the village, and now it is a non-renewable resource. Shoushan stone was formed1-200 million years ago, when the crust in Shoushan area violently changed to form a volcanic eruption. Shoushan stone itself is also the result of volcanic activity, but it is a special volcanic rock and will not form a large-scale eruption. It is only a small-scale volcanic magma activity, which is mixed with groundwater and underground minerals to form a substance called hydrothermal solution. This liquid is squeezed through the fault gap of the stone, and then solidified to form Shoushan stone. Therefore, Shoushan stone grows in the crevices of rocks, so it is impossible to mine one mountain at a time, and it can only be found slowly in the crevices of rocks. Because Shoushan stone is difficult to collect and rare, it is especially precious, especially Tian Huangshi, which is difficult for ordinary people to get. Since ancient times, Fuzhou folks have said that "one or two fields of yellow and one or two gold", and stones can rival gold. According to Mao Qiling's Records of the Houguan Stone in the Qing Dynasty, during the Qianlong period, many exquisite Shoushan stones were collected in Caishi Mountain, Fujian, and then sold to Beijing. With the establishment of new China and the development of foreign trade, the price of stone is rising day by day. In the 1970s, it was less than three taels in Hong Kong, and the price of Tian Huangshi made of ordinary materials was more than 1,000 yuan. If you carve it into a handicraft, it will be more valuable.
Puyi, the last emperor, mentioned in his book My First Half Life that he presented three seals of Emperor Qianlong to the people's government, all of which were carved from Huangshi in Shoushan, Fujian.
