In October 1949, Heshan County established the people's government of four districts and one town. Shuanghe Town was under the jurisdiction of the fourth district government, and the district government was based in Wujing Village.
From May 1952 to June 1954, Gaohe County was divided into nine districts and one town, and the area under the jurisdiction of Shuanghe Town belonged to the 9th District Prefecture.
In June 1957, the district system was abolished, and the Shuanghe Township People's Committee was formed from the merger of Sihe, Daping, Hehe, Shuangqiao and other villages.
In October 1958, Shuanghe Township was merged into Zhaiwu Commune.
In April 1959, Shuangqiao, Sihe, Daping and other brigades were divided from Zhaiwu Commune to establish Shuanghe People's Commune.
In August 1983, the Shuanghe People’s Commune system was abolished and the Shuanghe District Office was established.
In January 1987, districts were removed to establish townships (towns), a new system of towns leading villages was implemented, and the Shuanghe Township People's Government was established.
In November 1988, Shuanghe Township was abolished and Shuanghe Town was established.
In January 2002, the original Hecheng Town was abolished and its administrative area was merged into Shuanghe Town (the Hecheng Overseas Chinese Farm in Guangdong Province was retained). After the merger of the two towns, it has jurisdiction over 2 neighborhood committees and 9 village committees, with a total area of ??149.4 square kilometers and a total population of 20,384 people, including 19,815 permanent residents. The Shuanghe Town People's Government is located in the original Hecheng Town Government.
In June 2004, Shuanghe Town adjusted the scale of village committees. The original Xianqian and Qingfeng Village Committees were merged into Xianqing Village Committee, and the original Chuantang, Fenghuang, Shuangshi, Lianqun, and Rongshu Village Committees were merged into Merged into Hesheng Village Committee.
