Qingyun Temple in Liling

Qingyun Temple in Liling, formerly known as Daozhen Temple, is also known as Nanyue Palace and Junshan Villa. Located at the foot of Yunpanling at the northern foot of Qingyun Mountain in the east of Liling City. Yunpanling was named "Yingpanling" in Liling County Records of the Republic of China. It was named after the rebellion in Wu Sangui during the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty, and two generals, Wu and Gong, built a city in Liling Town to defend the rebels. Its Panshan Mountain, namely "Dongshan Mountain", is the location of "Dongtai Jifeng", one of the eight scenic spots of the ancient Lijiang River, and is located at the junction of Xiangdong Hospital and the Municipal Electric Power Bureau. Daozhen Temple was founded in the Ming Dynasty, formerly known as "Dongshan Temple", from which "Zen" and "Mountain" became one sound. Dongshan Temple's "Lost" in Old County Records does not exist. In the Ming Dynasty, Xiao Laifeng, a tribute student from Qin Long County, founded Daozhen Temple in the former site, and the two temples became one. Laifengzi Junshan was once the magistrate of Yongxing County, Hunan Province, and was built repeatedly after worshipping Buddha. Pukou Xianyan is engraved with the title of "Mengbiquan" and built with "Kuzhu Temple". Later generations Xiao Deting, Xiao and Xiao successively repaired the Zen Temple twice in Jiaqing and Guangxu years. Because the temple is dedicated to the holy emperor of Nanyue, it is a place to worship and burn incense, hence the name "Nanyue Palace". In the 21st year of the Republic of China (1932), it was still maintained and repaired by Xiao. In the same year, the Nanyue Palace was newly built in Dingxian Mountain, so it was renamed Junshan Villa, and a private school was attached to commemorate and inherit the spirit and career of the ancestor Junshan. After 1949, the temple was occupied by residents. 1989, Master Shi Dechan, a native of Liling CPPCC, moved here with disciple Shi Yiwei, and was officially renamed as "Daozhen Temple" and changed from a shrine to a Buddhist temple.

1993, Shi Dechan used the funds raised to build the statue of Sheng Di in Nanyue, the statue of Guanyin in wood carving, the statue of Bodhisattva in Tibet, the statue of Maitreya and the statue of Gautama in jade carving, and initially planned the expansion of the temple. 1996, the master of morality Zen passed away, leaving more than ten relics. Shi Si Yiwei inherited the cause, led the believers to pursue the human religion of "being merciful and awakening all living beings", broke the stereotypes, improved management, and made the temple incense increasingly prosperous. We also try our best to welcome the seven jade buddhas from Myanmar, including Sakyamuni Buddha, Oriental Glazed Medicine Buddha, Amitabha Buddha in the West, Avalokitesvara, Manjusri Bodhisattva, Samantabhadra Bodhisattva and Wei Tuo, the protector. Most of them are lofty sacrificial giant systems. It has laid a solid foundation for carrying forward the new pattern and inheriting the teaching profession.

With Shi Yiwei's efforts and the joint efforts of all walks of life, in 2006, the Liling Municipal Government made a master plan for the reconstruction and expansion of Tuozhen Temple with the guidance of excavating religious culture, protecting cultural relics and creating tourist attractions, and decided to name Gengsi "Qingyun Temple". After the planning is completed, the total area is 78 16 square meters, which is more than 10 times more than the original area of nearly 400 square meters. With a total construction area of 4,282 square meters, there are mainly new buildings such as Shanmen, Shengdi Hall, Bell and Drum Tower, Daxiong Hall, Guanyin Hall, Haihui Pavilion (i.e. stupa), all of which are in the style of the Tang Dynasty, with mountains facing the water at the back.

The existing temples will be transformed into mountain gates and sacred halls. The gate is a three-arch row building, 8 meters high and 9 meters wide, with cornices at the corner, and the door and the building are integrated; Shengdi Hall makes full use of the original space, and the flat roof is designed as the front terrace of Daxiong Hall. Ascending from the side door is the main building, the Daxiong Hall, with the Bell and Drum Tower, Guanyin Hall and Haihui Pavilion on both sides.

Daxiong Hall was built behind the original hall by the mountain, with a two-story and three-story mixed wood structure and a roof against the mountain. Glazed tile cornice Six bluestone panlong columns stand in front of the temple, about 5 meters high, with a dynamic momentum and flying. Other buildings also adopt the simple and solemn style unified by the Tang school. In 2007, the planning project was officially launched. The Hall of Great Heroes stands tall, and a castle is in sight. After the completion of the whole project, a unique, simple, dazzling and resplendent "Qingyun Temple" will be presented to people with a brand-new look. Located in the land where there is a photo (water) in front and a mountain (mountain) behind, it has become another new landscape in Liling.
