Architectural design of Oriental Gate

The Oriental Gate project is located at the leading position at the eastern end of the CBD axis in Suzhou Industrial Park, adjacent to Xinggang Street and Jinji Lake. Suzhou Rail Transit 1 Line and Line 6 pass through this project, and the "Oriental Gate Station" interchange station is set up.

Based on the prominent position of this project, the concept of door type as architectural design naturally formed. Symmetrical with the CBD axis as the center, and the doorway is located above the axis.

The Oriental Gate project has an intentional connection with the Moon Cave Gate, which represents the typical style of Suzhou gardens. At the same time, it is hollow and tower-shaped, which evolved from Suzhou famous pagoda Tiger Hill Wheel Corridor.

Outline the outline in the form of intaglio, leaving room for imagination. It conveys the metaphorical significance of building a new portal in Suzhou. The appearance of the 300-meter-high "door" not only expresses the unique classical charm but also embodies the superb modern technology; At the same time, it marks the beginning of the CBD axis, extending the space to Jinji Lake.

The treatment of the facade curtain wall of the Oriental Gate is Chinese. The curved curtain walls on the east and west sides of the Twin Towers, such as Suzhou Silk, pour down like a waterfall from the top of the 300-meter-high tower, reflecting the momentum of the Oriental Gate. The curtain wall design of the facade and inner arch on the north and south sides is obviously different from that on the east and west sides. Shading and cornices are set up to produce more subtle effects through the use of light and shadow, which set off each other with the straightforward things. The glass dome at the top of the building naturally and smoothly connects the east and west curtain walls with a smooth curve, making the whole building seamless.

The "Oriental Gate" in Suzhou has 69 floors and the height is 301.8m. The foundation stone was laid in September 2004. The building is a twin-tower portal building, which was bid by many internationally renowned design companies and won the bid by RMJM Company of the United Kingdom. The design inspiration comes from the ancient city gate of Suzhou.
