Letter from Xu Zhimo to Liang Qichao-to Liang Qichao.
Writing background
1922 In March, Xu Zhimo, who was far away in Britain, divorced his wife Zhang Youyi. One of the reasons is that their marriage is arranged and there is no love; Second, he fell in love with Lin, who also studied in Britain. Many relatives and friends don't understand this move, and so does Liang Qichao.
In his letter to Xu Zhimo, he said, "First, don't take pleasure in other people's pain" and "Second, love is sacred to today's teenagers", but "this matter can be met but not sought". And warned him: "Is there a perfect universe in the world?" In fact, Liang was mainly afraid that his lover's actions would ruin his future, because in China in the early 20th century, many people thought that a loveless divorce was as immoral as divorcing his wife for no reason.
Xu Zhimo, an idealist who holds the concept of love first, disagrees with the teacher's advice. In his reply to Liang Qichao, he said that he only did this to "seek the peace of conscience, establish personality and save the soul." As for Liang Qichao's worries about the future, Xu Zhimo said: "I will visit my only soul mate in the vast sea of people, and I am lucky to get it;" No, my life, that's it. "The effect is that you don't have to worry, the consequences are my own responsibility.

2. Tomb site
Xu Zhimo's cemetery has experienced three changes in history:
The first time: Xu Zhimo's cemetery was originally in Wanshiwo, Agate Valley, Dongshan, and Hu Shizhi wrote "The Tomb of the Poet Xu Zhimo". In the early years, this Xu Zhimo cemetery inscribed by Hu Shi disappeared in the turmoil.
Second time: Xu Shenru, Xu Zhimo's father, thought that the tombstone inscribed by Mr. Hu Shi was too short, and invited Ling Shuhua, Xu Zhimo's confidante before his death, to write an inscription for Xu Zhimo again. Ling Shuhua readily agreed that her inscription was taken from Cao Xueqin's meaning of "Leng Yue buried the soul of flowers" and transformed into "Leng Yue reflected the soul of poetry". This tombstone was also lost in the turmoil.
The third time: Xu Zhimo's cemetery has been destroyed because of the turmoil. In order to commemorate it, people in their hometown moved Xu Zhimo's cemetery to Baishui Spring at the northern foot of Xishan Mountain with government funds.
3. Stone tablet
In memory of Mr. Xu Zhimo, he bid farewell to King's College of Cambridge University in 80 years and set up a monument for Xu Zhimo. "I left quietly, just as I came gently."
