According to the source of the village head, Erlang Mountain was originally named Changshou Mountain. According to legend, Wang Bo, a peasant leader at the end of Sui Dynasty, revolted in Changbai Mountain in Zouping, Shandong Province, and the people around the source rose up and responded. One day, officers and men suddenly surrounded the rebel camp. In times of crisis, a group of people came from the southwest. The first general was faintly visible, wearing a three-mountain flying phoenix hat and holding a three-pointed two-edged gun, followed by a fierce dog. Wherever they went, officers and men fled one after another, and soon relieved the rebels. Afterwards, people speculated that Erlang God appeared and led the heavenly soldiers to save the people. In order to thank the people for their help, a thatched cottage was built in Changshou Mountain, which was renamed Erlang Mountain as a memorial to Erlang God. Erlang was sung as a god before the Tang Dynasty. When was Erlang Temple built? According to the inscription on the mountain in the second year of Ming Dynasty, Taishan Palace was built in the fourth year of the Northern Song Dynasty (A.D. 1052) and rebuilt in the ugly year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1565). Other earlier temples cannot be verified.
There is no spring water on the mountain. In the early years of Qianlong, a stone pool was dug with a volume of 27 cubic meters. Gap water can be drunk after rain. There is a tablet that says "Chisel Pool", but the handwriting is weathered and it is difficult to see the whole picture. There is an ancient stage on the south side of the mountain bee neck, which is the "treasure of the town house". Legend has it that Erlang Mountain was originally the glans of a turtle, and Jinyinshan was its shell. This glans penis feeds on Guo Zhuang, so it is called "Golden Guo Zhuang, Silver Source". Under the guidance of Mr. Feng Shui, the ancients built a stage here and stuck the turtle's neck. Every year, a temple fair is held on March 15 of the lunar calendar, and a big play is sung to scare turtles.
There are two "Taoist caves" on the cliff on the east side of the mountain peak. One is Master Ma's cave (Mr. Malaikun was originally from Majiazhuang, Zichuan, whose real name was Laikun), and the other is Master Zhao's cave (Mr. Zhao Mingzhen in Huangtai Village, Yolanda Town). Legend has it that Master Ma collects and grows drugs and gives them to people, and then people give them food and so on. His medical skill is brilliant, and there are people who seek medical treatment hundreds of miles away. Dozens of miles away from the source, the masses still believe in Master Ma, and people who come to ask for tea are in an endless stream. The story that Master Ma treated the people's bank of China before his death has been passed down from mouth to mouth. At present, the remains of Master Dong Naima still exist, and have been enjoying people's incense offerings for 300 years.
The trees on Erlang Mountain are mainly cypress, elm and shrub, with more than 20 species, dense and green. Precious medicinal materials such as Polygonum Multiflori Radix, Bupleurum Radix and Herba Lysimachiae also grow in the gaps of trees. Mountain birds, such as grey eyebrows, Chinese Pulsatilla, and mountain monks, pass through trees, rise and fall, and make clear calls. In recent years, Jinyinshan Park has been opened at the southern foot of Erlang Mountain, and more than 6,543,800 landscape trees such as pine, torch, bamboo, boxwood, hibiscus and Sophora japonica have been planted, making Erlang Mountain more beautiful.
Climbing Erlang Mountain, there are two sidewalks from the northern foot of the mountain to Beitianmen and Nantianmen respectively. In order to meet the needs of tourism development, 1999 newly built a spacious mountain road, hardened the road surface and afforested the roadside, so that vehicles of all sizes can go directly to Erlang Mountain. Erlang Mountain has become a famous tourist attraction.
