Why can't windows be left on the back wall of rural self-built houses?

Geographical area and geomantic problems are part of the reason. Now the urban-rural fringe is developing, and many rural areas have also built small houses. However, in some remote villages, there are still many adobe houses and blue brick houses. As a rural boy who grew up in a small village, I have seen many old houses and found that many houses have no windows left. I don't think lighting is always considered when building a house now. So many windows seem to make the room brighter. Why not leave a window behind the house? Isn't this more airy? First, security considerations. Houses in rural areas are usually large. Generally speaking, the load-bearing wall is the wall around the house, because there are enough doors and windows in front of the self-built house. If the back wall is opened again, the house will become unstable. In addition, the activities of ordinary citizens are in the yard or the living room in the middle, and there are few people in the bedrooms on both sides. In addition, rural self-built houses have actually not taken protective measures. In this way, thieves can take advantage of it. For our own family, there are security risks. Therefore, self-built houses in rural areas usually only open doors and windows on the front wall, and rarely open windows on the other three sides.

Second, geographical area and geomantic omen. Because many places are building houses, as long as it involves regional issues, it may form inconsistent views. Due to geographical problems, the orientation of our house is also different. Building a house requires rules, such as several houses, doors and windows, all of which are exquisite. Ordinary families are in the forefront, and rural people pay more attention to "Feng Shui". Jiezhuang pays attention to "keeping the wind and accepting the spirit" and "gathering money". However, if there are windows in the back wall, this is a very unfortunate apartment, which can easily lead to a decline in family popularity and less and less wealth. Therefore, the back is basically left, and the front window can be left large, which does not affect the ventilation and lighting, and there is no need to leave the rear window.

Third, privacy and heating issues. Our house structure is one after another, with no gap in the middle and adjacent homestead. For example, my house is next to my neighbor's yard. If I leave a window on the back wall, I can clearly see the situation of my neighbors, especially in summer, which is a privacy issue. On the contrary, neighbors will know their home and have no privacy at all. In addition, the northern rural self-built houses pay the most attention to heating. If the window of the back wall is also open, the northwest wind in winter will enter the house through the back window. The temperature of a house with windows on the back wall is much lower than that of a house without windows, so there will be no windows on the back wall to keep the house warmer in winter.

Of course, all kinds of modern foreign exchanges, the popularization of architecture, the strengthening of science, the improvement of payment ability and the improvement of social productivity have broken these taboos, and it is difficult to have a building with no windows on the back wall. In addition, with the change of people's consumption concept, people are increasingly considering building from a comfortable living environment, and some old unreasonable customs are gradually abandoned. At present, in rural areas in the north, more and more people leave windows on the back wall, especially in new buildings. Front and rear windows are the mainstream.
