The owners of this issue are a couple who have been married for many years. They usually only live in this house. The old house is smaller in area, with a usable area of ??only 50 square meters. There is no living room and the room is severely underlit. Therefore, the homeowner spent a total of 80,000 yuan to transform the 50-square-meter old house into a European-style fresh and beautiful residence to improve his quality of life.
Owner’s needs
1. Convert one of the bedrooms into a living room: The two owners have many friends, and they hope to add a functional area to the living room so that they can use it when friends and relatives visit. There is a reception area, which can also be used as a rest area during leisure time.
2. The lighting area is doubled: Because the house was originally an old house, the floor height was insufficient and the door height was not high enough, resulting in insufficient lighting. At the same time, most old houses use dark door frames, making the entire space slightly depressing. Therefore, the homeowner hopes to enhance lighting and reduce the depression caused by light.
Demand realization
Demand 1: If I want to change the bedroom into a living room in my old house, how should I choose the primary and secondary bedrooms?
The designer finally selected the original master bedroom to be transformed into a living room.
The designer removed the balcony partition wall of the original room to expand the view of the new living room and absorb more light into the room.
Area and lighting are the primary reasons why the designer chose to transform the original master bedroom into a living room. The original master bedroom was larger in area and had its own balcony. Compared with the second bedroom, the wider balcony can absorb the most light into the "new living room". The large area of ??the living room can meet the space needs of the living room for leisure and entertaining guests. Moreover, the living room is a place for family and friends to gather. If the light is too dark, it will give people a depressing feeling.
At the same time, the designer abandoned the wooden floor and dark door frame of the original master bedroom, and used an emerald green, white, and red color combination to create a more spring-like family environment.
Secondly, from the perspective of home decoration Feng Shui, the living room is the most popular place and is the heart of the family. Therefore, the living room is generally laid out in a place that can be seen as soon as you enter the door. The original master bedroom is more obvious after entering the door than the second bedroom.
Demand 2: The structure of the old house is relatively fixed. How to improve lighting?
The original door beam height of the house was not high, and storage space was added at the top of the sliding door, which blocked a large part of the light from entering due to the height. At the same time, the old house mainly adopts dark wood color as the main color, which further reduces the brightness of the family space under the original poor lighting conditions.
Because it is an old house, most of the load-bearing walls are made of bricks or blocks, so large areas of the walls cannot be demolished. Therefore, in order to increase the lighting, only the bathroom and balcony were demolished after the renovation. For walls that are not important in a small area, the door frames of the dining room, living room, and kitchen should be appropriately expanded, and all doors should be arched. This increases the height of the door and increases the amount of lighting.
Design inspiration
1. Adopting fresh and bright home colors can improve the overall brightness of the home space: light-colored objects have stronger reflective capabilities than dark-colored objects and absorb heat. The ability is weaker than dark objects, so light-colored furniture can improve the overall brightness of the home space and reduce the depressing air atmosphere.
2. The living functional area should be combined with the owner’s hobbies: the owner has many visiting friends and hopes to have space to entertain his friends, but does not need to use too many bedrooms, so the master bedroom It was converted into a living room to meet the living needs of the homeowner.
