There is a chemical bridge in the Fifth Ring Road in the southeast of Beijing. Why is it called a chemical bridge? I want to know the origin. Was there a chemical factory there before?

Because the main road under the bridge is called Chemical Road. The starting point of Chemical Road is at the intersection of Shuangjing Bridge and Dawang Road in the East Third Ring Road, east to Dajiaoting Bridge, and then south to Yaowa Lake Bridge along the East Fourth Ring Road. Then turn east to Fatou Bridge, and then turn south to east to the coking plant. It was a road built in the fifties and sixties, and it was also built for the coking plant that year. Along the way, many medium-sized state-owned enterprises and schools related to chemical industry have emerged, such as paper mill, director of chemical experiment, No.2 chemical plant, organic chemical plant, chemical machinery plant, No.2 glass plant and chemical school, among which coking plant is the leader.

Now, due to the needs of environmental protection and the reform of state-owned enterprises, many enterprises have stopped production. But in order to commemorate these enterprises that have contributed to the construction of new China chemical industry, it is called Chemical Bridge.
