When Li Zicheng arrived at the gates of Beijing, he arbitrarily demanded that Chongzhen be divided into land and countries. For the final dignity, Chongzhen decided to make his ambition clear by death. He personally killed his daughter and forced his queen and concubine to commit suicide. After all this, he thought for a moment and wrote a suicide note that touched the world. I have been king for 17 years. Although I have been diligent, how can a traitor be in power and be reduced to a thief pushing the capital? When I died, I had no face to see my underground ancestors, so I had to take off my crown, cover my face with my hair and hang myself! I hope the rebels and thieves will only split and insult my body and not hurt the people. After writing the suicide note, Emperor Chongzhen came to Jingshan and hanged himself on a locust tree with his neck crooked. The eunuch next to him hanged himself with him.
In this way, the Ming dynasty withdrew from the historical stage with the helplessness and lament of the last emperor. Emperor Chongzhen is also highly praised in history, and even the successive emperors of the Qing Dynasty highly praised his integrity. The first thing the emperor shunzhi did after he entered Beijing in Qing Dynasty was to bury Emperor Chongzhen with a grand burial ceremony. His mausoleum was called Siling. It can be seen that Shunzhi has great respect for the former emperor. From a historical point of view, this reverence is also suspected of buying people's hearts.
Why do you want to chain the big locust tree that hanged Chongzhen? There are two kinds of sayings in the world.
First, Shunzhi revered the integrity of the former emperor, and the old pagoda tree that hanged him was naturally angered. Under the order of Shunzhi, the pagoda tree that killed Mingjun was named "Sin Sophora", and a heavy chain was added to make it reflect on its sins. A tree that didn't attract anyone lost its freedom inexplicably. This is a tree that has been wronged more than Dou E in history. "Xin Huai", which was chained, became the ideological education base of the Qing court. Every year, the royal family and ministers came to pay tribute and meditate regularly. The emperor shunzhi even ordered that all detainees who passed Jingshan "guilty" must dismount to show their awe.
Secondly, there is a folk saying that this pagoda tree is a symbol of the integrity of the Ming emperor. So there is another saying about the chain in Guilt: After Shunzhi went to Beijing, he had a nightmare, and Emperor Chongzhen came to him with long hair and asked to serve the country. The next day, Shunzhi found a feng shui master. Later, he felt that there was too much yin under the locust tree, and the ghost of Chongzhen often caused trouble. Trees can't be cut down, only locked. Only in this way can the inheritance of the Qing Dynasty be preserved.
