Guizhou Zhijin
In zhijin county, there is a Fengxi Academy, which is located by the river, with blue bricks and green tiles and an antique charm. Zhijin Ancient City has nurtured many outstanding talents in its long cultural history, the most famous of which is Ding Baozhen, an important member of Westernization Movement in Qing Dynasty. Ding Baozhen (1820- 1886), a native of Niuchang Town, Pingyuan, Guizhou Province (now zhijin county, Bijie City, Guizhou Province), was a famous official in the late Qing Dynasty. Xianfeng three years (1853), 33-year-old Ding Baozhen was admitted as a scholar. Since then, he has served as editor of imperial academy Jishi Shu, magistrate of Yuezhou, magistrate of Changsha, governor of Shandong and governor of Sichuan. Ding Baozhen, who was born in the Imperial Examination, received a good family education since childhood. After he embarked on his official career, he also realized his words and deeds in strict accordance with the traditional Confucian thought of "self-cultivation, keeping the family in order, governing the country and leveling the world". During his tenure as governor of Shandong Province, he shocked the imperial court by intelligently beheading An Dehai. At that time, although An Dehai was only a eunuch with six grades of Lanling, she was deeply loved by Empress Dowager Cixi. Spoiled and charming, even the current minister looks down upon him. Many officials in the imperial court hated him. In the eighth year of Tongzhi (1869), An Dehai wanted to visit the palace and take the opportunity to collect money, euphemistically called it for the wedding of the Tongzhi emperor. At his repeated request, Empress Dowager Cixi agreed to buy a dragon robe in Jiangnan and prepare to hold a wedding in the palace. However, after arriving in Shandong, it was then. At that time, it shocked the whole court, and even Zeng Guofan praised Ding Baozhen as a "hero". The wisdom of beheading An Dehai not only made the whole court happy, but Ding Baozhen also won the reputation of "Ding Qingtian". Fengxi Academy is a wooden structure with double cornices, exquisite and magnificent. The vertical ridge on the eaves of the main entrance building is designed as the middle section, which is staggered in height to increase the building structure. Fengxi Academy covers an area of 1.800 square meters. The guard room with three compartments and the gate are located in the middle. The height and depth of the middle gatehouse are much larger than those of the wings on both sides. The cement column pasted on the door leaf is a typical wooden door. Fengxi Academy, located on the Guancheng River in zhijin county, was founded in the early Qing Dynasty. It is one of the earliest schools in the county, and has trained many celebrities and heroes who weave gold. Ding Baozhen once gave a lecture here. The Academy covers an area of 1.800 square meters, and the main hall is Ding Baozhen Exhibition Hall. Many tourists come to fengxi academy, where people come and go just to pay homage to their ancestors. This is an example for everyone to learn.
