The general cemetery in the former residence of General Xu Shiyou

The cemetery of General Xu Shiyou is located in Lailong Ridge at the foot of Wanzi Mountain in Xujiawa. It faces north and south, with Lailong Ridge in its back and Wuhu Mountain in the west. The cemetery is surrounded by ancient trees, pine trees and brilliant mountain flowers. The cemetery was built by the Nanjing Military Region and is about 90 square meters. The ground part of the tomb is dome-shaped, 2 meters high, 4.2 meters in diameter, 80 centimeters thick, and weighs about 10 tons. It is made of 91 fan-shaped and 1 round white granite blocks.

The tomb is 6.4 meters deep and 4.2 meters in diameter. The internal structure is coffins within coffins and coffins on top of coffins. The bottom floor is a cement coffin made of reinforced concrete, 2.1 meters high. Inside is the nanmu coffin of the general's coffin. The nanmu coffin is exquisitely made. There is no nail in the whole and it is all grooved. The gap between the nanmu coffin and the cement coffin is filled with dry lime and charcoal to keep the environment inside dry. The upper cement coffins of the same size are stacked together, that is, the bottom of the upper cement coffin is the lid of the lower cement coffin. Maotai liquor, pistols and other items were stored in the coffin. In front of the tomb stands a gray granite stone tombstone 3.12 meters high, 0.8 meters wide and 0.25 meters thick. The tombstone was erected by Chairman Yang Shangkun, Marshal Xu Xiangqian and others in their personal names. The inscription was inscribed by Fan Zeng, a famous Chinese calligrapher and painter. On the front are the words "Tomb of Comrade Xu Shiyou" in seven strong and straight regular script characters. On the back are small vertical characters in regular script, which are elegant and elegant, and are engraved with an introduction to the life of General Xu Shiyou. Behind the cemetery is an arc-shaped waterproof earth bank built with rocks. The cemetery is surrounded by green pines and cypresses, and is lush and green. In 2000, the general's former residence and general's tomb were announced as provincial key cultural relics protection units.
