Brief introduction of Jiuhua Mountain
Jiuhua Mountain is located on the west side of Taiping Gate in Xuanwu District, Nanjing, and was called Zhoushan in ancient times. It is the first hill where the remaining vein of Zhongshan enters the city westward. The north is separated from the Ming city wall and adjacent to Xuanwu Lake. There are temples in the mountains, towers at the top of the mountains, lakes at the side of the mountains and cities at the foot of the mountains. Beautiful scenery and broad vision. Climbing to the top of the mountain, you can have a panoramic view of lakes and mountains. Jiuhua Mountain in Nanjing has changed its name several times in history. Because it faces the lake as steep as a knife, it seems to capsize, so it was called Zhoushan in ancient times. In ancient geomantic omen, a mountain was a symbol of good luck like a capsized boat. Because this mountain is in the north of the capital, the emperor once called this mountain "Xuanwu Mountain" according to the capital architecture model of "Four Gods". When Liu Song and Yuanjia were in the Southern Dynasties, black dragons often appeared in Xuanwu Lake, so this mountain was renamed Xuanwu Mountain. Another reason is that Xuanwu Lake is located in the north of the city. During Chen Taijian's reign, Xuanwu Mountain was called Dragon Zhoushan.
